LOWES CREEK LITTLE LEAGUE
ALL-STAR INFORMATION
Lowes Creek is beginning the process of establishing our Little League All-Star Teams. All-Star play is available to players that are league age 10, 11 and 12 and have played in at least 60% of all regularly scheduled games.
League coaches will watch the players at each age level and evaluate their body of work over the season. Players will be ranked on a 1-5 scale in the various aspects of the game. Evaluations or try-outs will be conducted on June 15th. The all star coach at each age group and a group of coaches from a different age group will conduct and rank the all star tryouts. Final All-Star Teams (11-12 players at each age level) will be selected by the Board of Directors using the regular season coach evaluations, All-Star tryout evaluations, and input from the All-Star coach at each age level.
All players are eligible to attend the tryouts on June 15th. To be considered for all star play, please read, complete and sign the following information/forms:
Cost. There is a participation fee of approximately $80.00 for each of the players that are selected for the All-Star Teams. Fees will be collected after teams are announced and helps cover expenses for uniforms, tournaments, etc.
Time Commitment. Prior to tryouts, each parent and player needs to be aware of the time commitment for All-Stars. It is important to attend practices and tournament games. Practices will begin after June 15th with tournament and district games running late June thru early August. 10-11-12 year old teams will play two tournaments plus Districts. Teams must win Districts to advance to the State Tournament.
Age Requirement. Age requirements are the same as our League requirements. Your league age is also your All-Star age, regardless of when your birthday falls.
Transportation and Lodging. Each parent will need to provide transportation and lodging for their player for practices and tournaments. Lodging may apply with Tournaments, Districts, and will apply with State Tournaments for the 10’s and 11’s. (12’s are in Eau Claire in 2012).
Tryouts. June 15th from 9:00 am to 10:30 AM for 12’s. June 15th from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM for 11’s. June 15th from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM for 10’s. All sessions to be held at the Lowes Creek Little League Fields. The tryout sessions for All-Star Teams will be a closed session. We plan to have a short parent meeting to answer questions and will then ask the parents to leave the fields during the try out session.
Tournament Dates. We will plan to review all tournament dates for all age levels at the question/answer session at the tryout session. You should be prepared for commitments from late June thru early August.
Practices. Practices will last 1½ -2 hours and will be held 1 or 2 times per week or more. Practice dates and times will be determined at a later date.
Field Positions. These teams are made up from the best players in the Lowes Creek Little League. It is possible that your child is the best player on their current team. It is not possible for all selected players to be the best player on the All-Star team. The coaches will determine what field position best fits your player on this team. Please keep in mind that it may not be the position that they have played during the regular season.
Playing Time. This team is different than the regular league when it comes to playing time. Players are not promised equal playing time. Some players may sit on the bench more than others. Coaches do their best to create fair playing time in tournaments, but do tend to play their best players in Districts/State.
Learning Opportunity. Players will be introduced to a higher level of baseball. Players will gain valuable baseball skills from practice and games. These skills will be learned by playing, practicing and watching.
All Star Process Review and Intent to Try Out
Please make sure you have read and understand the time and expense required to participate on an All-Star team. Please understand that filing out this form does not guarantee selection to an All-Star team. The purpose of this form is to show the All Star coaches which players are available and willing to commit to play.
By signing this form, players and parents understand that they are making a commitment to play on the team they are selected for. Failure to sign this form will make the player ineligible to play on an All-Star team. If you are turning in this form, please plan to attend tryouts at the appropriate time for your age level.
Tryouts will be held Friday, June 15th. To be selected to the team, participation in the tryout is strongly encouraged. Players unable to make tryouts may be considered based on their season rankings.
