Meeting Highlights:

1.)  Meeting Called to order:

The Club’s February Meeting was held at Sparky’s in Whitney Point.

It was called to order at 7:34 pm by President Judi Whittaker.

2.)  Secretary’s Report – Joel Munson – January’s Meeting minutes were passed around for review.

a.  A motion was made to accept the Meeting Minutes by Josh Braman

b.  It was seconded by Scott Whittaker

c.  There was no discussion. A vote was called and the motion passed.

3.)  Treasurer’s Report – Judi Whittaker/Joel Munson - (General Fund, Building Fund, Groomer Fund) Joel Munson gave the following treasurer’s report:

Building Expenses – Some of the drain grates were installed.

4.)  NYSSA Report – Judi Whittaker – there has not been a meeting held since our last monthly Meeting. The following is a repeat of last month’s report.

a.  The Sportsman’s bill is back! Even thought it was voted down, it has been resubmitted. NYSSA was and continues to be against this proposal

b.  The Trailmasters Snowmobile Club has been removed from NYSSA. Other Local clubs have taken over some of the trails.

c.  NYSSA is NO longer associated with The Pink Ribbon Riders. Requests to the New York State Chapter by NYSSA were ignored and follow up phones calls proved to be unsatisfactory. NYSSA is now associated with Golisano’s children’s hospital.

d.  As of 6/1/2016, all GPS data must be newer than 2010

e.  The 2017 NYSSA forum will be held on April 27-30, 2017 in Lake Placid, NY

f.  Date for Take a Friend Snowmobiling will be 2/18/2016, Josh has confirmed with Tom Hurd.

5.)  CCSF Report – Eric Johnson

a.  JAN 29th - The CCSF will be held their SnoBlast Celebration on January 29th from 11am to 3 pm at the Silo Restaurant in Greene, NY. The event included: Dealer Booths (Skidoo-Blood’s, Arctic Cat-Marcellus’s), some old sleds (’71 raider) and several sleds for sale. Food was provided by the Silo. .

b.  Feb 4th - BC SnoRiders will be hosting their Feb Fest Party on February 4th at the Belden Hill Golf Course. The party starts at 5:30, and there will be music, a prime rib dinner, and basket raffles. Tickets are $25. Contact BC SnoRiders for more information

c.  Feb 5th (Delayed until Feb 19th) - Shasta will be holding a Poker Run, honoring Duane Marcellus, on Feb 19th starting at Marcellus Sales. Contact the Shasta Snowmobile club for more information.

7.)  Events Report

a.  Take a friend snowmobiling event will be held on February 18th, 2017.

It will be held at the Broome Tioga Sports Center. Sleds and Clothing will be available for people who want to try out snowmobiling without buying all the equipment. Bring your neighbor or your friend who has always wanted to try out snowmobiling!! Food will be available at the Broome Tioga sports center restaurant.

b.  NYS Snowmobile Safety Class, which was sponsored the Ridge Riders and SSR Powersports was held on 1/14/2016, at the Castle Creek Fire hall. There was an overflow class 24 kids. Went very well, with several parents sticking around to take the class. The Ridge Riders provided t-shirts to the attendees.

c.  A date has been announced for the Blizzard of Buck 2017 event. It will be held on September 30th, 2017.

8.)  Old Business (Action Items/Open Issues from last meeting

-  Judi is getting prices from Robinson Design for a sign on the front of the groomer barn

-  Marty Brown has contacted, via e-mail. Scott Freeman about Land Plan and is waiting on a response.

b.  Club Merchandise – Sue Marsh

Ridge Rider logo wear with the new logo is available for sale. Please contact Sue.

Sue was able to get logo wear made, which was given to the students taking the Snowmobile Safety Class on January 14 – THANKS SUE!

c.  Landowner Update (Mike Blance, Judi Whittaker) – No update

d.  Membership Report – Sue Marsh

A BOD meeting may be scheduled for March, 2017.

-  We need a club member to set up and lead this effort

g.  Covered Bridge Project – Sue brought up she would like to put lights on the Covered bridge. The club discussed it and authorizer her to purchase lights with a cost not to exceed $200.

h.  Youth Safety Classes – Done for the year!


i.  WEBPAGE/FACEBOOK – Jack

Jack continues to update these websites as new information becomes available. There have been over 9500 hits on the pictures showing the Chris Skinner sign.

Joel continues to update the snow phone message.

9.)  Grooming/Equipment Report: Marty Brown

10.)  NEW Business:

a.  The issue of tracked ATV’s, UTV’s, and Snow bikes was brought up. NYSSA is against these types of vehicles being on snowmobile trails. Several varying opinions were voiced. Concerns over groomed trail damage, Insurance, and registration were discussed. There were no conclusions.

11.)  Trail Captains Reports – 16-17 Season

Trails issues: None at this time.111

Stan Maslin is the new NYS DOT Contact.

All Trail Captains are asked to start work on a 2 year plan for their trails. What work needs to be done to maintain present trails, what needs to be done to improve trails, and what changes need to be made.

Hold - Marty is investigating having the Ridge Riders have their own grooming course

AI 13-02-03: Joel to work on getting records and consolidating equipment at grooming barn. - Perry has submitted Sure-trak Records no update

All hours worked have to be put in the state system within 60 days of occurrence. Otherwise, they will not be allowed.
