Welcome to Athletic Training. This is an activity class designed to improve physical conditioning and individual sport specific skills. We will be incorporating strength and conditioning program called Speed and Strength Training, (SST). The goal of the SST curriculum is to improve flexibility, strength, power, agility, and speed. We will be working in the weight room, gym, as well as the track and football field.
We are looking forward to an exciting year here at Parma High School and we hope you are excited as well. Please feel free to contact either of us if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year.
Daily Expectations:
Be on time and prepared for class.
Dress down every day for PE. (T-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes)
Participate to the best of your ability each day.
Stay busy for the entire class period. Your hard work will be rewarded in a better grade.
Follow all Parma High School Student Handbook rules.
LEAVE YOUR CELL PHONES IN THE LOCKERROOM!
Follow all safety rules.
Respect the facilities and the equipment.
Respect your classmates and teachers.
Respect yourself.
Daily Routine:
Dress down.
Take attendance, stretch and warm up.
Participate in daily activity.
Dress down, sit and relax, Have a great day!
Locker Room Behavior:
NO HORSEPLAY! Get dressed, cleaned up, and move out.
Do not mess with anyone else’s belongings.
Keep the locker room clean.
Lock it or it will be stolen.
“Dressing Down” What to wear for PE:
Every student will dress down every day. “Dressing down” means wearing different clothes for PE than you wore to school. “IF you wore it to school today, you cannot wear it for PE today”.
Acceptable PE attire includes: athletic shorts or sweats
T-shirt or sweatshirt (No sleeveless T’s or tank tops)
Non-marking tennis shoes
Grading:
Students have the opportunity to earn 5 points per day.
Daily points are lost for non-participation or tardiness. (-5)
Weekly points are lost for a non-dress (-25)
Minor infractions are up to teacher discretion. ( -1 to -5) Example not working hard, horseplay, language, gum etc.
STUDENTS WILL LOSE 10% (ONE LETTER GRADE) OF THEIR FINAL GRADE, IF THEY DO NOT FILL OUT THEIR DAILY WORKOUT SHEET EVERY DAY THEY ARE IN THE WEIGHT ROOM.
Make Up/Doctor’s notes- Students missing class have 1 day per absence to make up any missing work. They may do this by running 1 mile per day absent with supervision after school. Students with a long term illness or injury will need a doctor’s note to be excused and will be assigned a written research paper as an alternative activity. Non dress days may not be made up!
Other stuff:
Use restroom/get a drink at the beginning or end of class.
If you are sick, injured, or have a problem communicate with me.
Locks and lockers…Do not tell anyone your combination.
“Lock it up or it will be stolen”. It is your responsibility!
You may bring mosquito spray.
Do not touch the PE equipment, unless you are instructed to do so.
Help with cleanup at the end of class.
Take your PE clothes home to be washed every Friday.
