Are YOU prepared to deal with a major obstetric haemorrhage in your role as the SHO?

Major obstetric haemorrhage is the 6th leading cause of maternal death in the UK and is commonly encountered by SHOs in a wide range of specialties; O&G, anaesthetics, emergency medicine and haematology to name a few. We are offering F2s in the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust the unique opportunity to undertake free state-of-the-art high-fidelity simulation training in the management of this life-threatening emergency.

This half-day training session will give you hands-on experience in dealing with major obstetric haemorrhagefrom the point of view of your specialty of interest(i.e. if you want to do ACCS, you will manage the simulated patient as an anaesthetics SHO, etc). The sessions will be run by experienced faculty, consisting of consultant obstetricians, anaesthetists and blood transfusion specialists, and will be held at the OxSTaR Simulation Centre (John Radcliffe), which has been awarded the 'Trainers of the Year Award' for 4 consecutive years.

Who is this training suitable for?:

- All F2s in the OUH Trust, regardless of rotation or location

- F2s with an interest inO&G, anaesthetics, emergency medicine and haematology

- F2s applying to GP training (you will likely do an O&G rotation in the next 2 years)

- F2s looking to improve their skills in managing acutely unwell adults

- F2s wishing to enhance their portfolio and CV

- Wednesday 30th April 2014, Morning (08:45-12:45)

- Wednesday 30th April 2014, Afternoon (13:15-17:15)

How do I get Involved?:

There is space for only 20 people to attend (10 per session); places will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are interested, please emailstating the following:
