District and School-based Title I Parent and Family Engagement Programs in Polk County Public Schools willstrive to BUILD RELATIONSHIPS in order to create real family engagementforevery child, everyfamily, every teacher, every day.
This compact outlines how the parents/family, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement.
By linking learning, the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help our students achieve the state’s high standards for the school year.

Curriculum-
High Academics /
  • Provide high quality standards based curriculum to all students, through the use of rigorous and engaging instruction.
  • Hold high expectations for all students’ learning.

  • Familiarize yourself with grade level expectations.
  • Ask questions about what students are learning.
  • Gather resources and information from teachers and staff about academics, as needed.

  • Be prepared for learning, daily. (Homework, agenda etc.)
  • Discuss with your parents what you are learning in class.
  • Always complete assignments with your best effort.
  • Take an active part in the learning process.

Monitoring
Student Progress /
  • Monitor student’s academic achievement and share this information with parents & students regularly.
  • Use the data to plan instruction to meet specific student needs. (iii+e, tier 2/3 and differentiated instruction). .

  • Meet with teachers on a regular basis to monitor student progress towards mastery of standards.
  • Monitor parent portal, check interim reports, and report cards, making sure to discuss expectations with your child.

  • Know what your grades are and how you can improve or maintain them.
  • Ask your teacher and/or parents for help when you are having difficulty with something.

Partnership –
Be Involved /
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and families; offer opportunities to meet with parents/families.
  • Offer resources, workshops events that support and encourage parents to be engaged in the learning process.

  • Ensure students attend school on a regular basis.
  • Assist with homework and read with students regularly.
  • Attend conferences, family events and workshops.
  • Volunteer, join PTO, or join the School Advisory Council.

  • Attend school regularly.
  • Be involved in my learning: ask questions, work hard etc.
  • Respect myself, other students, staff members and the school, by having appropriate school behavior.

Communication–
Stay Informed /
  • Meet with all students’ parents at least once per year.
  • Communicate daily using student agendas, Dojo messages, email, and/or phone calls. Respond in a timely manner.
  • Send newsletters and blue folders home regularly.

  • Attend at least one parent/teacher conference each year.
  • Communicate with teachers and staff appropriately and regularly through agenda, Dojo, email, and/or phone.
  • Read newsletters and information in blue folders.

  • Talk to your parents and families about what you are doing at school. Share information that is sent home.
  • Bring your agenda to school daily.
  • Ask questions and share needs with staff & parents.

Learning

  • Create a positive and engaging environment that supports and promotes students’ academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Engage and encompass the student as a lifelong learner.
