Take Our Kids to Work Day was implemented by The Learning Partnership in 1994. Since that time, more than two million students and 79,000 workplaces have participated in the program. The Learning Partnership is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative programs for students in publicly funded educational institutions across Canada. Their mission is to nurture partnerships among schools, businesses, and communities. They are devoted to strengthening our publicly funded school system, encouraging caring adults to share their ideas, talents and resources with students and creating learning opportunities that young people will find challenging and exciting.
PART A: STUDENT AGREEMENT: To be filled out and signed by the participating student.
To the Student: Fill in the information below and discuss it with your parent/guardian and your host before your workplace visit. Then obtain all of the required signatures and return the completed form to your English teacher by Thursday, October 27, 2016.

To the Parent/Guardian: Your child has the right and responsibility to have a safe and educational workplace visit. Health and safety education is an important element of this program. Review this form and the information in the Student Agreement Form with your child and sign below. If you have additional questions about safety, contact the school or the workplace.

Element of Risk:
All experiential learning programs, such as field trips, co-operative education, job shadowing, and programs like Take Our Kids to Work Day involve a certain element of risk. Injuries may occur while participating in this activity, without any fault of the student, school board, or the host employer. By allowing your child to take part in this activity, you are accepting the risk that your child may be injured. All students have been recorded with the Work Placement Registration of Manitoba Education and Youth and will be covered by Worker’s Compensation for November 2, 2016.

Things to Consider
· There are no classes or programming for grade nine students at Kildonan East Collegiate on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.
· Don’t worry about finding a perfect placement. Take what you can get. Every experience is a good one.
· Placements can be as long as 12 or more hours, or as short as lunch and a tour of a worksite with your host.
· Partner with a friend or classmate who already has a placement.
· Visit your elementary or middle school and ask for a placement with a favourite teacher.
· Visit a local daycare, business, or charitable organization for a placement.
· Ask neighbours, friends, and relatives for a placement.
