Is out of Uniform?

Students are expected to dress in neat and clean uniform. One of the many outcomes of education is the preparation of students for the workplace. Most workplaces have dress requirements and safety codes. The school is each student’s workplace and attention to neat, clean and appropriate dress is expected at all times. This means that attention to modesty must be part of the decision-making related to items of clothing and accessories that are worn to school.

What happens when a student

is out of uniform?

·  Students are noted by their period 1 teacher as being out of uniform. This is recorded and students are issued with a yellow “Out” – Out of Uniform ticket for that day only.

·  Students will be cautioned and counselled by staff.

·  Students may be sent to the Deputy Principal to change if they are consistently out of School Uniform or if what they are wearing is unacceptable. They will be required to change into something more appropriate.

·  Parents will be notified if a student is consistently out of uniform.

·  Students who are frequently out of School Uniform may be denied the right to attend non-compulsory excursions and school activities - eg: reward activities.

·  Non-compliance with the School Uniform Policy will be managed within the NASHS Behaviour Management Policy.

Our school uniform enhances the public image of our school and has a positive impact on school tone and student self esteem.

Accessories: Scarves and long sleeve T’s (worn under school polo shirt), are to be in the school colours of red, white or grey.

Head gear: Hats, berets, bandanas, beanies etc are not to be worn in classrooms (unless approved by the Principal).

Footwear: For safety reasons low heeled closed shoes should be worn at all times. Sneakers are preferred, pump shoes are not preferred. Ugg boots are not acceptable footwear.

Open footwear including sandals and thongs is not permitted as it is unsafe. Science labs, workshops or practical areas require closed

footwear.

Where can you purchase uniform?

NASHS uniform is sold at the school canteen and Barefoot Clothing Manufacturers. The NASHS canteen sells red and white polo shirts.
