The Beautiful Owl
Betty the bird and Olive the owl were good friends. One day, they saw a beautiful parrot in a tree in the valley. Betty said to Olive, ‘That parrot has beautiful feathers. It would be great to be her friend.’ Olive looked at her own ugly feathers and walked away quietly. Betty made friends with the parrot and they flew away together.
While Betty was with the parrot, a gust of wind blew Betty out of a tree. She fell to the ground and hurt her wing. The parrot saw that Betty was hurt and said, ‘I’ll find someone to save you!’ Betty waited for hours but the parrot did not return. She was alone in the forest for the whole night.
Betty heard a voice the next morning. ‘Betty, are you all right?’ Betty was surprised to see Olive. ‘Did the parrot ask you to help?’ she asked. ‘No,’ Olive answered. ‘I’m so sorry, Olive.
