General Summary

Provide sales and technical service interface between Michelman and the customer in developing color coating solutions including color matching, quality testing and application assistance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee matching of colors and technical specifications associated with meeting customer requirements
  • Provide consistent communication with customers to manage existing business and assist in developing new opportunities
  • Drive internal ordering processes and coordinate manufacturing with the Production Superintendent
  • Track and report appropriate metrics to the business unit
  • Troubleshoot customer inquiries and complaints
  • Ensure all quality specifications are met per customer requirements
  • Maintain current costs on raw material components and pricing of finished goods
  • Ensure inventory quantities are tracked and maintained
  • Provide general oversight of order fulfillment process ensuring product is delivered to customer on-time and in quality
  • Provide necessary color match training and development
  • Participate in business unit discussions regarding color coat sales and business strategy
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong color pigment, batching making background
  • Excellent problem solving, mathematical, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficient in standard business office software. Ability to quickly learn and use specialized business software (Michelman business intelligence, sales and marketing software).
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to make effective presentations to diverse groups.
  • Able to perform financial calculations
  • High levels of self-motivation, initiative, and interpersonal skill
  • Strong business acumen with focus on organizational goals
  • Ability to interface with customers and promote best interests of Michelman

Education and Experience

  • At least ten (10) years of ink and coatings, color matching and manufacturingexperience
  • At least three (3) years industrial business development experience with a solid track record of success
  • Strong technical knowledge including a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related technical field

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Unpredictable business hours due to peaks and ebbs in customer demands
  • This small team works closely in terms of physical layout and daily activities
  • Able to work at a lab bench for extended periods of time
  • Able to perform job duties at remote locations including industrial sites, chemical facilities, customer centers, and other locations
