Person Specification
ESSENTIAL CRITERIAVolunteer Coordination / 1 / At least 12 months experience as a volunteer coordinator, lead volunteer or manager/supervisor in an organisation with demonstrable skill in leading and motivating volunteers
2 / Experience working or volunteering directly with asylum seekers and refugees
Food Based event coordination / 3 / Experience of coordinating food based events or a kitchen space.
4 / At least 6 months experience in a customer facing role with demonstrable skills in customer service
Admin / 5 / Good range of IT skills including google docs and spreadsheets
6 / Excellent organizational skills, including planning, and the ability to prioritise to ensure work is delivered on time and to agreed standards
7 / Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English, particularly with people for whom English is not their first language.
Other skills / 8 / Understanding of the experience and needs of destitute asylum seekers and the mission statement, values and objectives of BHN.
9 / Dynamic and self-motivated individual with plenty of entrepreneurial spark!
10 / Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and safeguarding adults.
11 / The ability to motivate others to get involved in projects and build a team.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
1 / Experience of delivering training
2 / Speak a language commonly spoken by our members: e.g. Arabic, Farsi, French, Tigrinya, Amharic, Kurdish Sorani etc
3 / Demonstrable commitment to human rights, equality, diversity and inclusion, anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory practice
4 / Experience of marketing events including design skills
5 / Experience of recruiting volunteers or staff
6 / Experience of leading a team of diverse cultures, backgrounds and abilities.
7 / A good sense of humour and easygoing manner
