  • Minutes of the February 5, 2010 meeting were approved.
  • Sponsorship--We have a verbal agreement with Perrigo for $2500. An invoice has been sent.
  • We have received Greg Forbes’ contract, photo and biography. He will be put back in as the keynote speaker on the Conference website.
  • We have received the contract from Kinetic Affect.
  • Panel—David Hernandez is confirmed and we have his photo and a short biography. We also have photos from Bruce Kocher and Jolene Osei. Bala will not be on the panel as he has another commitment that day that he would be late for if he were to speak.
  • The Race Machine needs only eighteen more slots filled, mostly on Friday and during the lunch hours.
  • We will have the large display case the week before and the week of the Conference. Posters are being made.
  • The Evaluations Committee had nothing to report.
  • The Registration Committee will make use of 450 pencils and folders with the old KVCC logo that the bookstore is getting rid of. The Committee is waiting until we know who all the sponsors are before printing up the notepads.
  • Thermoses from the bookstore with the old KVCC logo will be given as gifts to the panelists.
  • Food—We have a bid from Pistachio’s but not from the Radisson.
  • Nancy Taylor suggested that we bring comfortable chairs and a coffee table from the student lounge for the panelists.
  • Scott Williams was going to ask Tony Ide if we could hang the Diversity Committee’s banner in the auditorium, but Amy Louallen suggested that we hang it in the display case.
  • Nancy Taylor suggested that we have separate publicity for the Race Machine since it will be here all week. She will do a mock up . Kinetic Affect’s picture will be made into a poster. Marie Rogers would like information about Kinetic Affect to be put into the folder. Signs will be made to direct people to 4370 and 4380 for the Race Machine.
  • Lunch will be bring your own money and circa 1:45 p.m.
  • Marie Rogers talked about an umbrella inclusion group at the college of which the Diversity Committee would be a part. This umbrella group would also deal with education, hiring practices and policy. It would get monetary and human resource support from the college. Marie said that diversity should be an institutional mandate. Nancy Taylor said that we should be assessing ourselves as to where we are with diversity.
  • There will be book discussion groups this year on racism and diversity.
