A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of the late E. Bruce Blythe.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to the late Representative E. Bruce Blythe, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Bruce Blythe departed this life December 10, 2005, following a long and distinguished career in public service; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Blythe was a graduate of DuPont Manual High School and the University of Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Blythe was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the Occupation Forces in Japan, and was a Captain in the Kentucky Air Force National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Blythe served in the Kentucky General Assembly, representing the 32nd Legislative District of Jefferson County from 1961 to 1981, and was the first legislator to propose anti-noise legislation in 1972, culminating in the passage of bills in 1974 that prohibited the changing of the exhaust system on any car, truck or motorcycle to increase engine noise output, and a bill that directed the Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protections to adopt and maintain a comprehensive statewide program of vehicle noise regulation; and

WHEREAS, Representative Blythe also devoted much of his legislative career as an advocate for crime victims, seeking to award them compensation and restitution for their hardships; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Blythe was founder and former President of Blythe Advertising Company, and with his wife, began Blythe Productions, a television production company, in addition to being a founding partner in the Ohio Valley Door Company; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Blythe was Past President and long time member of the Board of Directors of the Cerebral Palsy Kids Center, former President and member of Metrobon Kiwanas Club, a member of Second Presbyterian Church, and a member of Big Spring County Club, where he was two time Club Champion; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Blythe is survived by his mother, Louise Blythe Dohrman; his loving wife of 47 years, the former Barbara Wynn; two sons, E. Bruce Blythe, III and Phillip Blythe; two grandchildren, William P. Blythe, Jr. and Carter Blythe; and a brother, Sam Blythe; and

WHEREAS, E. Bruce Blythe leaves a legacy of public service to the citizens of the Commonwealth, and a wealth of loving family and friends;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its deep sense of sorrow upon the passing E. Bruce Blythe, Jr., and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of former colleague and friend, E. Bruce Blythe, Jr.
