7th grade Social Studies Technology…

AND YOU!!

Parents & Students-

Our society is becoming more and more technology based and we here in 7th grade Social Studies want to use that technology too!! Below are a few new technological services that we will be using to keep both parents and students informed, engaged, and current.

My Big Campus

My Big Campus (MBC) is a service for teachers and students to safely engage one another online. It’s safe because My Big Campus is an online extension of the classroom that’s tightly integrated with our school network and Internet filter and was developed and designed specifically for educational purposes. Everything a user posts/creates/uploads is recorded—and can be seen and printed at any time by system administrators and teachers.

My Big Campus is accessible from school, home, on internet-devices, or anywhere at www.myBigCampus.com. Students have access by using their school user name and password. Parents, there is a parents log in, HOWEVER at this time NACS is not connected to this service. You will have to have your student log in for you, if you want to see what’s being posted.

MBC will be used for:

·  Review for tests

·  To watch educational video clips

·  Flipped Classroom approach

·  Discussion

·  Place to post questions after school hours

Twitter

Twitter is an online social networking that enables users to send and read "tweets", which are text messages limited to 140 characters. Registered users can read and post tweets but unregistered users can only read them.

Twitter is accessible from school, home , on internet-devices, or anywhere at www.twitter.com.

Students and parents can access this Twitter account by following us at:

MCMS7SS

Twitter will be used for:

·  Sending out quick reminder

·  Place to post questions after school hours

·  Provide feedback

·  Classroom polls

·  Research tool

·  Current Events/Trends

Remind 101

Remind 101 provides a safe way for teachers to text message students and/or stay in touch with parents for free. Students/Parents and teachers will not be able to see ANY cell phone numbers. Remind 101 keeps a message history which can never be edited or deleted.

To Receive these text messages:

(even if you have Mrs. Etter send this info just like it says. Mrs. Etter & Mrs. Tigulis have a joint account, it’s just Mrs. T’s name on the account J)

Remind 101 will be used for:

·  Reminders for special activities

·  Motivational messages

·  Test reminders

·  Schedule changes
