Course Description: In this course, the student will learn to solve equations and word problems with one and two variables, work with polynomials, factor polynomials, solve equations by factoring, work with inequalities, and work with graphs involving one and two variables. The student should be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide signed numbers with ease. Placement is made in accordance with prescribed procedures for entering freshmen. Calculators may be used after first quarter.

Class Materials Required: Textbook/ibook/ebook, pencil, and notebook or binder with loose-leaf paper or iPad for note taking. Graphing calculator TI-83 or TI-84

School Grading System: refer to Student Handbook

Class Grading Procedures:

Homework – 20%

Quizzes/ Projects – 30% (4-5/quarter)

Test – 50% (3 tests a quarter)

Homework, extra credit, special grades: Homework will be given almost every night and will be checked the following day. Extra credit may be given for special projects or work. All assignments and upcoming test can be found on Google Classroom

Academic Dishonesty

Students are expected to be academically honest at all times. No forms of dishonesty will be permitted. Cheating of any kind, including sharing homework and plagiarism, violates our school policy. Students who are guilty of academic dishonesty will receive no credit for the assignment, the incident will be documented on the student record, and parents will be notified. For further detail, please see page 26 (?) of the Student Handbook.

Acceptable use of Technology

The following rules will be observed in regard to technology use in the classroom.

1. iPad must sit flat on the desk

2. You are responsible for a charged battery, wifi issues, and app issues that may arise

3. No earphones

4. Bluetooth must be on

5. No GAMES!!
