What is a Softkey?

A Softkey is a button that is displayed on the phone screen and is accessed by clicking the physical button directly beneath it.

How do I access my voice messages?

If you want to... / Then...
Set up your voicemail / Click the Messages(envelope)button on your Cisco IP Communicator and follow the voice prompts. The default password for all users is 1 2 3 4 5
Recognize when you have a voice message / Check your CiscoIPCommunicator for the following indicators:
  • The red light on your phone remains lit
  • A flashing envelope icon that is displayed next to the line extension on the LCD screen
  • A text message that is displayed on the LCD screen

Listen to a voice message / Click the Messages(envelope) button and follow the voice prompts.
Check voicemail from an outside line / Dial 528-7000 and press the * key when answered. Your ID is your phone number followed by the # key. Enter your password followed by the # key

How do I skip a voice message?

To skip a voice message / While listening to a voice message, press the # key to go to the end of the message. Press the # key a second time to mark this message as new and move to the next voice message.

How do I put a call on hold?

If you want to... / Then...
Mute a call / Click the Mute(crossed-out microphone) button to mute the handset, headset, or speakerphone during a call. Mute temporarily disables your phone's microphone so you can hear other parties on the call but they cannot hear you.
To toggle mute off, clickMute again.
Put a call on hold / Click the Holdsoftkey* your phone. The call remains active but the connected parties on the call cannot hear each other. You can answer other calls while a call is on hold. If you have multiple calls on hold, use the Navigationbutton (white up and down arrows) or your mouseto select the correct call.
Note: Using the Hold feature generates music or a beeping tone. For this reason, avoid putting a conference call on hold.
Resume a call on hold / Use the Navigation button or your mouse to select the call on hold and click the Resumesoftkey.
Have multiple calls on hold / Use the Navigation button or your mouse to select the desired call, then click theResumesoftkey.
Have multiple calls on multiple lines on hold / Click on the line button for the line to which you want to switch, and use the Navigation button or your mouse to select the desired call. ClickResume.

How do I see a list of my missed calls?

Step1Click the Directories(open book) button.

Step2 Use the key pad or your mouse to select the desired option.

Step3 To place a call from any directory, select the record, then click the Dial softkey.

Note: Use the EditDial softkey to add digits to the front of the number. (For example, if the call was from an outside, long-distance caller, you might need to add the digits 9and1 to the number before dialing.) Then, click the Dial softkey

Step4Click the Exit softkey up to three times to exit the Directory menu.

How do I automatically forward all calls?

Step1Click the CFwdAll softkey. You should hear two beeps.

Step2 Enter the number to which you want to forward all of your calls, exactly as you would if you were placing a call to that number. After you enter the number, an animated phone icon with a flashing right arrow appears in the upper-right corner of the phone screen. The phone screen also displays a message confirming the number or extension to which your calls are being forwarded.

Step3 To cancel call forwarding, click the CFwdAll softkey.

How do I transfer a call?

Step1 During a call, click the Transf softkey. This puts the call on hold.

Step2 Dial the number or office extension to which you want to transfer the call.

Step3 When it rings on the other end, clickTransf again. Or, when the party answers, announce the call and then

clickTransf. (This is a consult transfer.)

Step4If the party refuses the call, click the Resume softkey to return to the original call.

How do I join multiple parties into one call (conference call)?

Step1 While you are on a call, click the Moresoftkey, then click the Confrn softkey.

Step2When you hear the dial tone, dial the party which you would like to join in the call.

Step3When the third party answers, click the Confrn softkey to join all three calls into one conference call.

Step4Other parties can be added to the conference call one at a time (up to 16). The above steps must be repeated by each successive person added to the conference call. If you placed the original conference call you can only add one person to the call. The person that you added must then add the next person, who must then add the next person, etc.

Step5Click the Endcall softkey to drop your connection from the call. If you initiated the call, you can disconnect at any time and the conference call remains active.

How do I dial a long distance number?

Step1Dial 9and 1, then the ten digit long distance number. You will hear two beeps.

Step2After you hear the beeps dial your long distance access code and click the # key. The call will automatically go through if dialed correctly.

How do I connect or transfer directly to someone’s Voice Mail?

Step1To connect directly to someone’s voice mail, simply dial a * and then dial the number as you normally would.

Step2To transfer someone directly to another person’s voice mail, simply follow the transfer procedure above (see “How do I forward a single call?”) and hit the * key before you dial the number to which you would like to transfer.

Note: Remember to hit the Transf softkey after you dial the number to complete the transfer.

How do I use the User Options web page?

Step 1Using a web browser, access the User Options login page at

Step 2Login using your username and password and use the chart below to access common features.

Your username is LibertyID. Call 592-7800 if you need a password.

If you want to... / Then do this after you select your device or profile
Forward your calls to
another phone / Choose MenuForward all calls... and click the check box for a line. You can redirect calls to voice messaging or to another number. If you specify a number, enter the number exactly as you would dial it from your desk phone, including an access code and an area code, such as 9 and/or 1, if necessary.
Cancel forwarding your
calls to another phone / Choose MenuForward all calls... and click the check box for a line to
remove the check mark. You can cancel call forwarding from you phone or from your User Options web pages.
Change your password / Choose MenuChange your Password. Your password is the code you enter to log in to the User Options web pages.

How do I reset the phone?

Step 1If you are experiencing problems and need to reset the phone, click* * # * * on the key pad.
