1. Describe the task in detail:Time Capsule Assignment – Unit 1 – Minnesota History – September, 2005
Instructions: In this assignment, you will be collecting items that you would like to store in a “Time Capsule.” These things could be anything – photos, drawings, awards, trophies, favorite books, secret codes, gifts you received, diaries, journals, drawings, even old report cards. The goal of your collection is to choose a collection of items that represent you. In other words, if someone were to find your “Time Capsule” in the future, she might understand a little bit about you.Over the next couple of days collect these items. One day next week (9/14 or 9/15) we will be sharing “Time Capsules” with each other. If you would like to add one of your things to a class “Time Capsule” that we can display in our room, we would love to have it. Be sure to put your name and period number on it. At the end of the presentations, we’ll use the Time Capsules to create a puzzle. Use your ears well and you’ll do well!

Task may be differentiated by having students present to small groups in a round robin set up. Task may also be differentiated by reducing the number of objects a student must include in Time Capsule.
