General Manager

Located in the beautiful landscape of Calaveras County, the Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) is a special governmental district that currently provides water service to approximately 12,000 municipal and residential/commercial customers in five water improvement districts and 4,800 sanitary sewer services located throughout the County. The Board of Directors is seeking a dynamic and proven leader for their new General Manager. The incumbent must be able to lead, organize and develop a staff of diverse talents and skills. The ideal candidate will possess a management style that emphasizes teamwork, participation, communication, collaboration, and team development. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work cooperatively with the Board of Directors in establishing the goals and objectives for the District. Someone who is politically astute but apolitical will be valued. Competitive candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent public relations skills. In addition, a strong negotiator is sought to cultivate and maintain a successful relationship with unions. The Board is seeking a General Manager who is highly interested in the Calaveras County community and desires to be actively involved with its residents. The new General Manager will be able to demonstrate proven experience as a general manager or assistant manager for a complex public utility district providing water and sewer service. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial management skills in order to oversee and manage a large and complex budget. Candidates should possess five or more years of senior level management, and a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, or public administration is required.
