The state Arts Coordinator at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), Lurline Muñoz-Bennett, in the office of Literacy and Humanities has agreed to serve as our state advocacy representative for 2013-2014. The emphasis of our meetings has been discussions of how we can support our members with regard to the new Massachusetts Teacher Evaluation System;editing and refining our Bylaws; developing and generating our Members Only Pages on our website, as well as our outreach efforts with other arts organizations throughout the state. We have discussed having Round-Table sessions at various locations around the state, and offer guidance to art teachers as they unpack the standards and plan and write their S.M.A.R.T. Goals.
