Brief Station Descriptions

1. Winter River Crossing: while winter camping: your Troop comes to a river that has a rope strung across the gap. Your troop must figure out how to transport yourselves, and the sled across the gap. This task is to be completed with what you have stored on the sled. Nothing more than a rope is provided.

2. Orienteering: While winter hiking, your troop is hopelessly lost your way. The only clue back to civilization is a paper found incased in ice, which contains instructions to the right direction you need to head.

3. Sled crossing: You must cross a ravine with your sled and not lose any of its contents or the sled itself.

4. While hiking with your troop, you come across an injured hike with a broken leg. Use your first aid skills and the items on your sled to make a stretcher. You must load and transport the victim through the obstacles in your way.

5. Cold Weather Rescue: your troop is crossing a frozen river and your senior patrol leader falls into the river. You have to rescue him using the supplies you have without anyone else getting wet. You must build a fire and dry him off to prevent hyperthermia. Use the cloth provided to you which simulated the SPL’s clothing, after you rescue your fellow scout.

6. Fire Building: Your troop is stranded in the woods. Is is getting close to sundown and everyone is thirsty. Build a fire and boil enough water to fill a water bottle using fire and snow.

7. Shelter building: Create a shelter that is wind resistant and fits everyone. It should be comfortable enough for a couple nights and keep you warm.
