Range Of Care

1.0Introduction

Briarcare Ltd is available for assessed care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Service delivery may include, some or all of the following depending on the needs of the Service User and the assessment of need.

It is essential to assist the Service User to retain their dignity and self-respect. The Carer plays a role in this by assisting the Service User only in those areas where this is needed and thereby allowing him/her to retain as much independence as possible.

2.0Objective:

To provide assessed care dependent upon the assessment of the Service User’s needs.

To help a Service user with self care which they find difficult as a result of age, frailty or disability.

To help a Service User to retain their dignity and self-respect.

To care for people with learning disabilities, Parkinson’s Disease & Multiple Sclerosis Briarcare Ltd do not provide care for children

3.0Procedure:

The Carer shall provide only that care detailed on the Service User’sCare Plan F/103

Procedure OP 4.0.6 Agree Terms For Care Provision

The Carer may need to:

ΟListen to, talk with and understand the lives of the Service user

ΟLiaise with Service Users family & friends.

ΟMonitor the Service Users well being and record daily events in the Service User’s Care Plan F/103 provided.

ΟAssist with getting up in the morning and getting out of bed at night or during the day as required.

ΟAssist with dressing and undressing.

ΟAssist generally with personal hygiene and appearance

ΟAssist with getting to and using the toilet/commode –

ΟHelp with the managing of incontinence

ΟAssist with the preparation of serving meals

ΟAssist with feeding - if necessary.

ΟPrepare hot and cold drinks.

ΟAssist with personal laundry and incontinent laundry.

ΟAssist with the essential cleaning of 'high risk ' areas such as emptying commodes.

ΟAssist with the movement to maximise the physical comfort of the Service User.

ΟAssist with Oral Hygiene.

ΟAssist with the management of prescribed medication – if agreed.

Procedure OP 4.2.6 Administration of Medication

ΟMaintain the Service User’s environment with regard to warmth.

ΟAssist with the reasonable care of pets.

ΟAssist with household administration, i.e. paying bills.

Procedure OP 4.11.3 Management of Service User’s Finances & Property

ΟEmpty and change catheter bags/colostomy bags.

(This should be carried out under the strict guidance and approval of the District Nurse.

Carers must not undertake any provision of nursing care.

The Business Manager is responsible for authorising this procedure

Range Of Care

The Branch Manager is responsible for the identification of the care services to be provided and for the development of the Care Plan.
