Founded in 1944, Welwyn Garden City Society exists for all those residents who care that Welwyn Garden City remains a green and pleasant place in which to live, both now and in the future, ensuring residents are able to continue to enjoy and value the quality of life the town offers. We aim to encourage the conservation of the town’s character and charm and to protect its environment while avoiding merely sterile preservation.
Just a few of the local issues we’ve recently been progressing or are working on:
- The proposed Council Offices extension
- Return of Panshanger Park to public use
- Reinstatement of the de Soissons designed hexagonal poster booths in the town centre
- The Estate Management Scheme
- The management of the open spaces in the town

Your views are important to us – they drive the agenda. By joining us you can add your voice to our growing number and support us in working for residents and the town’s best interests. WGC Society enables residents to get involved in local matters and seek to influence them for the better. Now is a great time to join the Society and support our work. We are a pro-active organisation reflecting the views of our members and are not affiliated to any political party.
The Society holds public meetings on local or topical subjects and we publish up to four newsletters a year.
