Instructions for applicants

The Eastern Metropolitan Region Palliative Care Consortium (EMRPCC) is pleased to offer five scholarships for attendance at a palliative care course or study day for non-specialist palliative care health workers across the Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR).

If you work in any health related field within the EMR, you are eligible to apply. There are courses available within the region; however you can apply for a course being held anywhere in Victoria. See below for suggestions.

There are six scholarships available each valued at up to $500. You can apply for funds to cover the whole course (if under $500) or to go toward a course that costs more than $500.

We know that many people require a palliative approach to their care and may not necessarily need to be referred to a specialist palliative service. This scholarship aims to encourage health workers working outside the speciality of palliative care to increase their knowledge and skills to take back to their workplace.

Scholarship applications close at 5.00pm on January 12, 2018.

Who can apply?

·  Any health worker employed by a health, disability or aged care service provider

·  Working within the Eastern Metropolitan Region

·  Any discipline including personal care workers

Which course can I attend?

·  Any palliative care related course conducted in Victoria

·  Please phone to discuss if unsure of the suitability of a course or your eligibility

What is my commitment?

·  If you are being considered by the panel for acceptance of a scholarship, you will be required to successfully complete the free online training: ‘Palliative Care: Getting Started’ or similar depending on your discipline. Your certificate of completion will need to be submitted to the Consortium Manager prior to final scholarship approval.

·  You will need to attend the approved course and provide your certificate of attendance to the Consortium Manager. If you do not attend the approved course, all scholarship money will be required to be paid back to the EMRPCC.

·  You will need to commit to arranging a clinical placement via PEPA. This placement into a palliative care service within the EMR will consolidate your learning and provide vital connections with specialist staff. PEPA provides financial support to your employing organisation to enable you to attend this clinical placement.

For further information and a confidential chat about your application please phone Karen Conte, Consortium Manager on 8804 0651
