It is anticipated that around 15 of the infoDev Top 50 SMEs will be focused on mobile applications. In addition, there are a large number of other SMEs, notably from Finland, that are active in this field and which will be present at the SME fair. The aim of this session will be to promote networking amongst this subset of SMEs and to explore business opportunities. Thematically, this session will be organized as follows:
  • 14:00 – 15:15 Three-minute “elevator pitch presentation” from 15 or so mobile-focused SMEs, with a mix of developing (10) and developed country (5) companies.
  • 15:15 – 16:00 Speed dating. The 15 SMEs each host a table at which interested parties could gather, with groups moving on every ten minutes or so. Interested parties may include financiers, mLabs managers, mobile applications developers, other SMEs etc
16:30 – 17:00Plenary: The Innovation and ICT Sourcebooks[together with Agribusiness track participants]
Launch of the World Bank Group’s Sourcebooks on Agricultural Innovation Systems Investment and ICT in Agriculture. The Sourcebooks provide a menu of how-to tools and guidance drawn from tested good practice examples and innovative approaches.

Two agribusiness entrepreneurs at different stages of enterprise development present their dreams and challenges. A policymaker and a financier outline their perspectives on the issues raised.
10:00 – 11:30Break-out: Designing an Agribusiness Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center I
The group will be presented with an actual case study of a country, outlining its potential agribusiness growth opportunities and the barriers for entrepreneurs to start and accelerate agribusiness entrepreneurship. Participants will be asked to develop an approach to stimulating the start-up and growth of agribusiness SMEs in this environment.
  • Break-out groups of no more than 10, comprising both public and private sector members, will be formed directly at session and facilitators allocated accordingly.
