Science Olympiad Competition

Saturday, March 10, is the big day!! The tournament starts 30 minutes earlier this year. Students need to be at the Barnhardt Student Activity center at 7:00 am. Please find our school at the tables inside.

The night/days before:

  • Students should put all their event materials in one place
  • Check their event notes and logs….are you in compliance with the amount of information?
  • Students CANNOT use chrome books and are NOT TO TAKE PHONES INTOEVENTS, notes need to be on paper.
  • Go to the NCSO site and check for event updates
  • Lay out clothes and their clean Science Olympiad t-shirt!

Students need to bring:

  • Everything you need for your event, check the event description on the NCSO Events page. I will have our lab aprons, goggles, etc.
  • Make sure you have pencils, erasers, calculators if allowed.
  • Please make sure you are dressed correctly for your event. (closed-toe shoes, long pants, long shirt if required by the event).
  • Money if you with to purchase snacks
  • Any repair materials you may need for your build event. (glue, tape, pliers…)
  • Cell phone (if you have one)….remember, phones CANNOT be taken into events

Upon arrival:

  • Check in with us at the tables in the food court.
  • Find your events….you need to know where you are going so you can arrive on time
  • Make sure you are back at our check-in site after finding your events. Students will need to get their wristbands that identify which team (Varsity, JV1, etc) they are on.

The Charlotte regional NCSO tournament is being held at UNCC. Most of the events will be in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center (SAC). A few will also take place in the Woodward Hall Lab, Cato College of Education building or Burson Hall. Each location outside SAC is about 5-8 minutes walking, so plan accordingly. Our team home base will be in the auditorium of Barnhardt Student Activity Center. Parents are welcome to attend for all or part of the day. Please park in the West Deck Parking Lot.

The Award ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 – 6:30 pm.

UNC Charlotte Conference Services staff asks that you not bring any lawn furniture/plastic chairs into the facility, no rolling ice chests/coolers. There will be refreshments and food pods open in the SAC if you’d like to purchase food items. (Specifically, Papa Johns, Bo Jangles and Burger Stand will be open from 9:30am – 5pm)
