Curbside Recycling Implementation

Pre-Program: Container Delivery Phase

·  The Village of Chase is pleased to announce that the new Curbside Recycling Program is scheduled to start the week of April 26, 2010. This program will apply to all residences currently receiving curbside garbage collection. Additional information for Businesses will be provided in the near future.

·  We are now delivering new garbage and recycling containers to your home and business. The blue top containers are for recycling – the grey top containers are for garbage. Containers will be lifted by the Village’s new garbage/recycling truck.

·  Please do not overfill containers (lids must be closed to ensure proper collection) and ensure that all recyclable materials are free from contamination.

·  Include only recyclable materials listed on the reverse side of this sheet. There is no need to separate or bag your recyclable materials.

·  There is only one size of recycling container available for residences – businesses may request larger containers.

The Village of Chase would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we work together to implement this new solid waste recycling program.

Program: Curbside Collection Begins

·  Set your recycling container out the same day as your regular garbage collection. However, please do not set out your new garbage and recycling containers until the week of April 26th.

·  Please put both containers out by 7:00 am on your regular garbage pick up day and space them 1 meter apart. (see diagram on flip side of this sheet)

·  Do not overfill or compress garbage or recycling material in the containers. The lid must be closed for collection and the materials must be able to easily fall out during collection

·  If you have been saving your recycling, please put it out gradually for collection over a few weeks to avoid overfilling. Only put your recycling container out if it is full or nearly full.

·  Material must fit in the containers; if they will not fit please use the recycling container in the arena parking lot or at the Chase landfill or find other responsible alternatives.

·  Store your containers securely and promptly report any stolen or damaged containers.

·  The Village is considering a $12.00 annual lease charge for each property to help cover the cost of providing the containers and the service.
