Bereavement Programs – Summer/Fall 2015
Our mission is to nurture individuals and families along their grief journey as they cope with the death of a loved one.
All programs are provided at no cost to the participant. We are for the community and funded by the community through private donations, fund raising events and grants.
Grief 101: A monthly workshop for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one and for family, friends, and professionals who wish to support them.

- August 5th: Wednesday-Spirituality and Grief
Presenter: Cynthia Armbrister, Integrative Chaplain
Spirituality plays a role in how we grieve, no matter what the belief system is for the individual.
- September 2nd: Wednesday-Kids and Grief-A Panel Discussion
Presenters: Diann Kellison, Clinical Director, Fredericksburg Counseling Services, Samantha Dineen, Counselor
The panel will explore the experience of childhood grief, including family, school and social aspects of their experiences of loss.
- October 7th: Wednesday-Grieving the Loss of a Loved One to Suicide
Presenter: Victoria Graham, Director of ACTS/Helpline
- November 4th: Wednesday-Writing your Grief
- December 2nd: Holidays and Grief

Support Groups
A grief support group can offer those who are coping with the loss of a loved one:
- Information about the grief process
- Education on ways to cope with grief
- Support for sharing grief and memories
- Opportunities to join with others in the healing process
Loss of a Spouse or Partner
Day group meets weekly on Fridays
11 a.m. – Noon
Evening Group meets 1st and 3rd/2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month
6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Loss of a Child
Meets 2nd Thursday of each month
6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Loss of a Parent
Meets 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month (starting September, 2015)
6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Finding Words for Grief Writing Group
Meets weekly on Wednesday
4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Family Expressions (Program for families with children/teens)
Meets 3rd Thursday of each month
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Teens Helping Teens (ages 14 to 18)
Meets 1st Friday of each month
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Kids Helping Kids (In-school grief program for children)
Meets in the comfort of the child’s school. Initiated and co-facilitated by school counseling professional and trained HSC volunteer.
Understanding Your Grief/Wolfeldt Group
Meets Tuesdays from 4:00-5:30 p.m. for 6 consecutive weeks,
starting September 15.
Registration is required for all support groups.
