WHAT:
Refurbish 12 sets of bleachers in the newly renovated PJHS Gym
WHERE:
Prattville Junior High School Gymnasium
WHO:
The PJHS Gym serves over 1,100 students daily for Physical Education Class and for athletic practices and games and weekly for special events (including assemblies, talent shows, community events, etc.). This project positively affects every student and staff member at PJHS.
WHEN:
Funds will be raised until all 12 bleacher sets are sponsored. Our goal was to have funds raised by May 1, 2015. We did not reach that goal, however due to the significant need for the project to be completed, all bleachers sets were refurbished the Summer of 2015. We currently have two sets of bleachers sponsored and ten more to go!
WHY:
The bleachers at PJHS over 50 years old and in desperate need of repair. They posed a safety issue as the wood was splintering and all sets were not attached properly. In addition, they were destroying the newly renovated wood floor as much of the hardware was missing (i.e., wheels were missing and created divots in the floor). Due to space limitations and current guidelines, replacement bleachers would reduce the seating capacity by half, which will not meet the needs of our students. In addition, we aim to maintain the integrity of the building and keep the facilities intact.
HOW:
We are asking businesses and community members to sponsor a set of bleachers for $1,000. This will cover the following costs (per set):
$750 - Replace and refinish all wood
$150 - Replace hardware
$50 - Promotion (including sponsorship sign)
$50 - Miscellaneous (cover extra costs including attachment to the wall, etc.)
In exchange for your support, a beautiful metal sign with the logo of your choice will be placed on the set of bleachers for which you sponsor. This sign will be affixed on the front of the top bleacher, allowing it to be seen no matter the position of the bleachers. We will also acknowledge each sponsor during our annual Fall Open House to express our gratitude. If you are not able to donate the full $1,000, fill free donate any amount that you can.
The sustainability of this project is great. A complete refinish of the bleachers will provide many more decades of service to our students and community. This is a gift that keeps giving to many generations. The children today will certainly appreciate your generosity, and the children of tomorrow will see the support your company has provided the community.
