POSITION POSTING

Position Title: Certified School Social Worker (Grades 6th-12th)

Reports to: Building Administrator

Available: Full time position available for Fall 2016

Work schedule based on school year

Hours and schedule determined at time of employment

Starting Salary: Per Bargaining Association Contract

Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Duties:

1.  Work with individual students or groups of students within the classroom, school or community setting.

2.  Work as a team member with the building principal, psychologist, other ancillary staff and teachers on student intervention teams.

3.  Provide consultation to parents, school personnel and community agencies.

4.  Provide in-service training for school personnel.

5.  Provide parent education programs.

6.  Serve as a member of the Individualized Educational Planning Team.

7.  Ability to communicate effectively and deal with co-workers effectively and professionally.

8.  Regular, predictable attendance.

9.  Follow work rules.

10.  Valid Driver’s License required.

11.  Assume other duties as assigned by the Building Administrator or Superintendent.

Qualifications

Education: Master of Social Work Degree and the completion of the necessary graduate course work in order to obtain temporary or full approval as a School Social Worker. Must be licensed in the State of Michigan, and be registered with the State of Michigan Board of Examiners of Social Workers.

Experience: Experience in facilitating group activities involving youth which are designed to promote the self worth, personal advocacy and daily living skills of students.

Skills/Other: Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral modes. Technical literacy preferred.

Criminal History Check: Upon hire, employees of the Millington Community School District are fingerprinted for a Michigan and FBI criminal history check. The processing fee of $56.00 is the responsibility of the applicant.
