HUMC Rotation for Palisades Medical Center General Surgery Residents

Rotations are 2 months, to begin on Monday January 29, 2013

TRAUMA & SICU ROTATION (TEAM C)

Trauma Rotation

·  PGY 4 assigned to trauma service. Takes call only when trauma/ACS attending takes call. We will see how this goes and whether we need to cover all night with other pgy 4’s. This resident can cover any acute care surgery cases during day or night 9to be coordinated with UMDNJ senior resident)

·  Rounds start at 7:00am, attending rounds at 9:00 am, 5 pm signout

Trauma/SICU rotation

·  PGY 2 assigned to trauma service but rounds with SICU team at 7:00 am, then joins trauma team. We will see how this works out.

THORACIC SURGERY (TEAM B ,along with Vascular)

·  PGY 3 assigned to Dr. Bernard Park and his group.

·  Also cover Moutainside Thoracic cases

·  A UMDNJ PGY 4 is on this service along with APN’s

GENERAL SURGERY (TEAM A, along with Surgical Oncology)

·  PGY 2.

·  Also cover breast cases as needed.

ACADEMIC CONFERENCES:

1.  M & M conference every Tuesday at 7:00 am

2.  Departmental Surgical Grand Rounds at 8:00 am

3.  Trauma Journal Club monthly

4.  Trauma QI meeting monthly on Friday

5.  Resident conference weekly

6.  All UMDNJ go to Newark on wednesday morning for their conferences, we will cover cases. PMC residents do not need to leave HUMC for PMC conferences during this rotation.

MISC:

·  You can scrub ANY SERVICE unassigned cases (colorectal, Minimally invasive, etc)

·  Resident lounge 6th floor Room 6629 (combo 342)

·  There are 6 PA on trauma service working 7:00 to 7:00 shifts.

·  There are 5 PAs in the SICU

·  Annette is surgery department coordinator (551-996-2625)

·  Meal card and parking provided by Office of Medical Education (Marina)
