This is the screen print I had mentioned at the associate faculty meeting I would send to demo a degree evaluation for your students. The students have a link on their home page labeled “degree audit” just like you do. The difference is that the link works on thestudent’s home page on CougarWeband the link does not work on the faculty’s home page on CougarWeb. The process is very similar to what I have below but I don’t have access to a student account to demo it. It is close enough that it should help you and/or student’s do their own evaluation (degree audit)

For faculty in CougarWeb click on the “My Workplace” Tab.

In the center of the page under blue ribbon labeled “Banner Self-Service” section click on “Banner Self-Service” file folder icon which opens up to show 3 more folders and a link to another web page. Click on the folder labeled “Faculty and Advisors”

Find the folder just underneath Faculty and Advisors labeled “Student Information Menu” and click.

Now you have some links that you will want to note at this point. Notice the item for “ID selection” which you will need if you want to do more than 1 student because the system will keep doing the same student otherwise so remember this for later.

Also notice the “Academic Transcript” if you want to know when the student took classes and it also shows if they have registered what classes they plan on taking next semester.

Finally the main focus is the “Degree Evaluation”. Please click on this.

Click on the downlist arrow to the right of the window showing a term and mine came up with the Cont. Ed Winter 2013 (Dec-Feb) already in the window but I recommend changing to the current Term. Then click the submit button. I have blocked out my name and CWID on all the prints but your name and CWID would show above the date.

I recommend having the CWID of the student since there are so many students with the same name so distinguishing which one you want gets difficult. Then click the submit button at the bottom.

A confirmation screen comes up to make sure you have the correct student. If the name matches click Submit. I have blocked out the student name on all the screen prints in this demo but the student name would show on your selection.

A screen comes up showing if the student has planned a degree with the registrar and the degree, and the catalog term they are under. Also notice along the bottom of the screen the option to “Generate New Evaluation” and “What-If Analysis”. If you want to see the detail of the degree listed just click on “Generate New Evaluation” .

Click on the radial dial in front of Program and then click on Generate Request.

Notice this student has taken 71 hrs. out of the 60 required so there is a Yes to the left meaning they have earned enough hours for the degree. I want to show Business Field of Study and Management so I am only showing the 3 screens on this degree. Notice the only “Yes” is the GPA. As requirements are satisfied with a grade the red No turns into a black Yes.

Notice on this student the 2 ENGL courses have an AND before the second class. This means both courses are required for the degree and since there is a Yes to the left of both courses the student has taken both. If there is an OR in that position then the student has a choice of taking one of the listed courses.

Notice the red No to the left of the math requirement which means the student still needs to take the math requirement of 2 courses so has 1 more to do.

To evaluate whether the student has earned other degrees or certificates scroll to the bottom and click on What If Analysis on the far right hand side of the list.

Select term and click Continue.

Notice the down arrow to the right of Program: window which probably shows None. Click the downlist arrow

Every degree, certificate, MSA, CFOS, we offer plus the Core Complete are options you can choose by scrolling down the list. Choose the one appropriate for your student. Most of the time the accountants will pick AA-Business Field of Study which requires 60 hours or CFOS-Business which is only 21 hours.

Management and Marketing Faculty will usually be choosing AAS-Business Management, AAS- Marketing, CER-Business Management, CER-Marketing.

Click on the one you want to view and then click Continue.

A verification window shows up and you can just leave campus as None but choose the down list after First Major and choose Business and Department and then click Submit.

Select current term if not already there and click Generate Request.

Notice again a red No to the left of those items not complete and a black Yes next to those that have been satisfied.

Notice a Yes by both ENGL classes because the student has taken both and both are required. Notice there are 2 speech classes with an OR before the second one which means the student has a choice of taking either class to satisfy the speech requirement.

Notice the student has a Yes by the first accounting course and a No by the next 2 classes that are required because you can see a red No next to them because the AND means all the classes must be taken.
