Post Title / Lead Practitioner
Key Responsibilities /
  • To lead a team of teachers in raising standards of teaching and learning across the Faculty, with a particular focus on KS3 and therefore raise student attainment and progress.
  • To be accountable for the quality of teaching and learning within the department.
  • To be responsible for ensuring students uphold the highest of behaviour and attitude to learning expectations

Reporting to / Director of Faculty
Operational Responsibilities /
  • To develop high quality teaching materials and schemes of work and have responsibility for the delivery and assessment of the KS3 curriculum.
  • To lead on the induction, support and CPDL of all newly appointed maths teachers and liaise with relevant school mentors.
  • To keep up to date with national developments in the subject’s teaching practice and methodology.
  • To support and guide colleagues to select the most appropriate teaching and learning styles, methods and resources to meet the needs of the full range of students.
  • To monitor the effectiveness of teaching and learning by the examination of lesson plans, lesson observations, work trawls, keeping of records and undertaking learning walks and take action to improve further, the quality of teaching in the subject.
  • Contribute to and/or lead continuing professional learning sessions for staff and lead through example, support and guidance.
  • To check the accuracy of summative data input prior to the production of each school data collection
  • To contribute to the data analysis of the specified Key Stage prior to the Raising Achievement Panel
  • To manage and lead the intervention strategies to ensure good student progress at the specified Key Stage
  • To liaise with the Student Support Services team for the specified Key Stage to target key groups
  • To manage the system for Faculty rewards and sanctions at the specified Key Stage
  • To be responsible for Faculty transition from the previous to the specified Key Stage
  • To be responsible for student recruitment and retention between specified Key Stages
  • To monitor students’ views on learning and address findings as appropriate
  • To chair Faculty meetings in the absence of the Director of Faculty
  • To contribute to the Faculty Self-Review and Improvement Plan
  • To attend the School’s Awards Evening for the specified Key Stage and any other relevant event
  • To organise extra-curricular activities for students at the specified Key Stage
  • To undertake other reasonable responsibilities delegated to the post-holder by the Principal or senior staff
