Profile

Dr. Zahid Shafiqwas born in 1975 and received his early education from Okara and Lahore. He got his M.Sc. degree from BZU, Multan in 1998 with distinction securing Gold Medal and M.Phil degree from QAU, Islamabad in 2001 again with distinction securing Gold Medal. In 2002, he joined BZ University, Multan as Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry. He was awarded HEC scholarship for Ph.D. studies in China and completed his degree in 2008 in the field of Synthetic Organic Chemistry.He was appointed Assistant Professor in the Institute of Chemical Sciences in 2008. In 2009, he was chosen amongst young scientists worldwide to participate in the 59th Meetings of Nobel Laureates in Lindau Germany. He was awarded Max-Planck scholarship for Post-doc studies in MPIP, Mainz, Germany from 2010 to 2013 during which he worked on Biomaterials and Bioinspired DOPA derivatives. He was appointed as Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry in 2016 at the ICS, BZ University Multan.

Dr. Shafiq has published more than 50 Research articles in Internationally reputed Journals including in Nature Materials, Advanced Materials, Angewandte Chemie Int. Ed., Biomacromolecules, Organic Letters etc. He has supervised 03 Ph.D. students, 25 M.Phils. and 05 M.Sc. thesis while a significant number of Ph.D. and M.Phil. students are working under his supervision on various projects in his group. He has attended more than 20 International and National Conferences. He won Excellent Young Scientist Award for the year 2006 & 2007 and Director’s Scholarship/ Award for the year 2008 from the ICCAS, Beijing, China. He was awarded Research and Productivity Award for the year 2010, 2011 and 2012 by PCST, Pakistan. He is at the moment Member, Senate, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Focal Person of PMLN Laptop Scheme, Member Board of Studies, ICS, and Departmental Students’ Advisor (DSA), ICS, BZ University, Multan.
