C. Course Description
Anatomy and Physiology is the study of structure and function of the human body. This course follows a sequential development of the major body systems in an organized and structured curriculum. The course is designed to give the students a selective overview of human anatomical structure and an analysis of human physiological principles. Student may participate in the Rutgers Health Science Program. Requirements include; successful completion of the course Dynamics in Health Care, and Honors Anatomy & Physiology. If students pass the required examinations they have the opportunity to achieve 14 university credits from Rutgers.
D. Course Objectives
The Students will:
A. Define anatomy and physiology.
B. Use proper anatomical terminology when discussing structure and function of the human body.
C. Incorporate medical terminology into each class, using it as if it were a new language.
D. Use abbreviated medical terminology in case studies.
E. Use various reagents to test the major biomolecules found in the body.
F. Identify the pH of various substance to better understand how pH impacts the human body
G. Identify and describe the major structures and functions of all the systems in the human body.
H. Identify the musculoskeletal system and identify their interconnecting relationship.
I. Dissect laboratory rats to understand the musculoskeletal system.
J. Examine the basic senses through the use of various sensory labs and activities
K. Dissect a sheep brain in order to understand the gross anatomic structure and its histological and cellular components
L. Identify all mammalian cat structures and their functions.
M. Understand various health careers related to different aspects of the human body.
N. Understand the developmental aspects of human anatomy and physiology
O. Examine and explain how anatomy and physiology are related in all systems of the human body.
P. Research different diseases and explore how they impact the human body.
