Finance Officer

Salary / £20,300 - £23,853 per annum

Main Purpose

An integral role within the Finance Team, the successful applicant will be working in a team

whose responsibility is to both support and enable excellence within the organisation by delivering a high functioning finance department.

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for processing purchase invoices to ensure timely processing and payment and will be responsible for administering petty cash and the banking of incoming funds.

Main Responsibilities

·  Management and processing of incoming purchase invoices, ensuring prompt authorisation and coding by Budget Holders.

·  Managing supplier accounts to ensure all purchase invoices are paid in a timely manner.

·  Preparing invoices for the regular payment runs

·  Prepare regular supplier payment runs

·  Daily liaison with stakeholders and suppliers to resolve any queries

·  Managing and build supplier relationships

·  Administering petty cash on Imprest System.

·  Responsible for timely banking of all cash and cheques.

·  Supporting the Finance Team through general administrative duties, including filing.

Other Responsibilities

·  Process and reconcile credit card statements

·  Assist with month end processing and balance sheet controls

·  Assist with generating sales invoices

·  Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required by the demands of the Finance Department

·  Other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager or Head of Department

·  Postholder will actively follow City Gateway policies

·  Postholder will maintain an awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations

Education/
Qualification / ·  A*-C GCSE levels in English and Maths or equivalent qualification or demonstrable ability / ·  Relevant qualifications in Accountancy
Proven Experience / ·  Experience of financial administration in a medium sized organisation. / ·  Purchase ledger experience
·  Understanding of the Financial duties in a Finance department or charity environment
·  Have experience with high volumes of invoices
Skills & Abilities / ·  Time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritise, use own initiative, and achieve agreed objectives
·  A clear vision of the role of support staff in a Finance department or charity with attention to detail and accuracy
·  Excellent interpersonal, social and communication skills
·  Ability to work on own initiative without detailed direction
·  Resourceful and able to think clearly under pressure
·  Excellent attention to detail
·  Good written and verbal communication skills
·  Working skills in IT office software and experience of using this to complete day to day office administration tasks / ·  A high level of competency of Microsoft Office especially Excel
·  User of Electronic accounting software
