How to Stay Afloat on the “SEA”
Enter the SEA System to find staff development offerings within RockinghamCounty (Consortium, Closing the GAP, CECC, CTE,) by clicking on “District Activities”. If you know the Activity Number, you may enter the number then click edit. For “All Other Activities”, (outside of the system) you will need to complete the registration. Upon completion of the outside activity, send a copy of certificate of credit to Dobie Sharpe.
In “District Activities,” you will select a category and then you must enter your date in the appropriate range. (current date is shown) Then you will select the “View District Activities” Button. If you know the activity number you can type it in and view.
Once you are viewing the activities and you wish to register for one, click on “Details”. You will then view a page that will give you more detail. If this is the staff development activity you want to register for then you will click the “Select” button.
Once you‘ve clicked the “Select” button, you will be redirected to the Activity Proposal screen for registration. Complete all items on the form. After completion, click on the “Place Proposal On-Hold” button for approval by your SEA System/Building Administrator. Make a copy of the proposal. If you do not receive a confirmation by e-mail within a week, contact your SEA System/Building Administrator. – NOTE- You must always use your home school and correct e-mail address. If someone is registering for a group please make sure all e-mail addresses are correct.
You may Edit/Review an On-Hold activity to check the status or Review an Approved Activity Proposal. Click on the “New or Edit/Review Activity Proposal” link at the bottom of the SEA page. Insert your Proposal Number in the “Edit”(to change) or “Review” (to check status or see what you typed in) feature and click the button. This is one of the reasons printing your activities is important, so that you will be able to retrieve proposal numbers and dates. NOTE: if you edit an On-Hold proposal, click the “Place Proposal On-Hold” button after editing. This will have to be approved again. To edit an approved activity proposal, contact your building administrator.
In order for you to receive renewal credits:

- YOU MUST complete all surveys in a timely manner to receive credit. If your name does not appear on the school activity roster checked off, and you did not register on the SEA, you will not receive credit.
- After completion of the Teacher Survey, you will receive an e-mail that acknowledges that the Staff Development Office has received notification of this and will post the continuing education credits to your professional development record. No credit will be given if you have not completed all requirements or the instructor indicated otherwise on the “sign in” roster.
If you want to offer staff development at your home school, send a completed and signed by the principal“Sponsorship” form to Nakia Hardy for approval. Send Technology “Sponsorship” forms to Dennis Frye for approval. Upon approval a template will be sent to the school for completion. Return the completed template to Dobie Sharpe. The activity will be entered in the SEA System and will be available for participants to register.
At the conclusion of the activity, send the completed Activity Rosterto Dobie Sharpe.
After completion of your survey, sometimes you will receive follow-ups or progress reports. These reports are to be completed in the same manner as a survey.
