Amber-Pocasset FFA Wins State FFA Farm Business and Agribusiness Management

Career Development Event

STILLWATER, Okla. — Members of the Amber-Pocasset FFA Chapter won first place in the State FFA Farm Business Management Career Development Event during the 2018Oklahoma FFA Career Development Events at Oklahoma State University April 28.

Team members includeNick Savage, Nathan Ratcliff, Carson Shaw and Cache Anglin. Savage received high-individual honors, and Ratcliff and Shaw placedsecond and 10th, respectively.

The team will represent Oklahoma in the Farm Business Management and Agribusiness Management Career Development Event at the National FFA Convention in October.

The Amber-Pocasset agricultural education instructor and FFA adviser is Billy Scott.

The participants demonstrated knowledge and showed their abilities to apply economic principles to agriculture and agribusiness by completing a written test and solving farm-analysis problems.

The OSU College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources hosted the contest. The Oklahoma Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and the Choctaw Nation of Oklahomawill provide a cash award to the team for expenses related to participating in the national contest. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the high placing individual, provided by Steve and Merrie Lynn Vaughan.

FFA is an integral part of the Agricultural Education division in the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education system.
