1.0 Loyal Toasts
Chairman conducted the loyal toasts to Apex Global.
2.0 Citation of Apex Ideals
The Ideals was led by Apexian Lily Kaur, National Vice President of Apex Malaysia and recited by all.
3.0 Motion of Thanks
Apex Australia gave a vote of thanks to the 3 Founders of the Apex movement Apex, Ewen Laird, Langham Proud and Sir John Buchan of the Apex Movement.
4.0 A minute of silent for Apexians that have past away since our last meeting
All the Delegates and members observed one minute silence for Apexians that have passed away since Apex Global nations last met.
5.0 Appointment of Sergeant-at-arms
Apexian Willy Oates and LG Vic Rada was proposed and seconded by Apex Australia and Apex Bangladesh respectively. The motion was carried.
6.0 Roll Call of Club Delegates and Observers
Chairman called for role call from countries and its Delegates. Quorum was obtained and the meeting carried on.
7.0 Welcome Address by the Chairman
The Chairman then welcomed all Delegates and members to the Apex Global Annual General Meeting and gave a brief explanation on the formation of Apex Global. The Chairman then proceeded to outline and review the agenda for the Annual General Meeting.
8.0 Adoption of Minutes of the Inaugural Apex Global AGM
The minutes of the Apex Global AGM held on 4 August 2008 at Bayu Beach Resort, Port Dickson, Malaysia was presented for discussion and adoption. It was proposed by Apex Australia and seconded by Apex Bangladesh. The motion was carried.
9.0 Adoption of Minutes of the group discussion Mid Term
The minutes of the group discussion/Mid Term meeting of Apex Global held on 7 February 2009 at Chittagong, Bangladesh was presented and adopted. Proposed by Apex Bangladesh and seconded by Apex Australia. The motion was carried.
10.0 Formation Matters – The Rotation of the Chairman’s Role
Global Chairman briefed everyone on the importance of the rotation of the Chairman’s role beyond June 30, 2010. It was proposed by Apex Bangladesh that NVP Md. Hasan Ferdous Jewel be appointed as the Chairman for Apex Global for the 2010/20110 term. This proposal was seconded by Apex Australia and it was anonymously accepted by the floor.
11.0 Up-date on Administration matters
The Chairman informed the floor members that the Apex Global website is www.apexglobal.org.au. This website is under construction and will be ready in the coming months to go ‘live’.
The Chairman requested all the Association members to coordinate with Apex Global Secretary, C S Naidu to provide an update on Association activities and news of the each individual Apex Association within the region. The Chairman stated that the new Apex Global Web-site will be an effective communication tool and in that it will be a great asset and tool with regard to the passing of information and staying updated on all current and future activities with in the Apex Global group of nations.
Currently, the problem faced by the Apex Global is that some of the member Associations do not communicate effectively with Apex Global. For example for the preparation of the Apex Global Trotter Newsletter, some member Associations currently do not contribute to the content and articles requested by the Chairman within the deadlines as set.
Please keep the Global Secretary informed on all the activities within your Association so that we are able to send out informed and effective updates to all the Associations in a timely manner. Apex Global continues to play an important role in bridging the gap between Apex Associations, BUT EVERYONE NEEDS TO CONTRIBUTE.
The Chairman requested that all National President’s of individual Association’s need to provide the list of the current National Board Members so that this can be complied and distributed to all member Associations for effective communication.
All Apex Associations are requested to advise the Global Secretary as soon as possible of the nominated member from within each Association responsible for providing content for the Apex Global Globe Trotter Newsletter and the new Apex Global Web-site.
The Apex Global Chairman complemented Apex India for their participation and their youthful representation towards Apex Global and the Annual General Meeting. He also commented on the service works done by the individual Clubs under the banner of Apex India which he has recently witnessed during his recent tour to South India.
12.0 Reports, Presentation and Up-date
Apex Australia, Apex India, Apex Malaysia, Apex Philippines and Apex Singapore have presented and deliberated on the respective Association reports. Apex Bangladesh has not presented their report during the meeting and informed all that they will circulate the report to members at a later time.
Apex Malaysia: During the deliberation of the report, Apex Malaysia informed all that they are in the process of expanding the membership and Clubs to other parts of Malaysia. With regards to current community service activity; Apex Malaysia gave an overview of a presentation of wheel chairs to those in need, organising medical camps, increasing the number of machines in Apex affiliated dialysis centres. There were two National Service projects that have been carried out i.e. blood and organ donations and Merdeka Run.
The Chairman thanked Apex Malaysia for hosting the Global Annual General Meeting once more.
Action Point : Apex Malaysia to draw a plan for future expansion to the neighbouring countries.
Apex Australia: Apex Australia requested that participating members identify and expand Apex for future. Willy gave first hand information and criteria to apply for Apex Founders Travellers Fund as an NIRO of Apex Australia. NP Mark Wenzel explained that the time and year plan for setting goals for the forthcoming year was critical for all at the National Board level of each Association. He also briefed members on Apex Australia’s Teenage Fashion Awards. As an organisation we should explore and encourage and look forward to promoting new ideas throughout the year. He also explained about Apex Australia’s Founders Club which is a step forward in reconnecting past and present Apexians nationally and internationally within the organisations structure.
NVP Jeff Hardie informed the members of Apex Global about the benefits of setting up of National Disaster Relief Fund within their own Association. He also explained the need to develop a National/International Disaster Relief Planning Strategy to address Apex involvement at an Association level and also at an international level through Apex Global. This is designed to act in times of need as caused by natural disasters and ways to harness the media and ground support for the community affected when assistance is required.
Action Point : Apex Australia to prepare working paper on the execution and achievement on National & nternational Disaster Relief protocols that could be adopted by Apex Global countriesthe Teenage Fashion Awards and Apex Australia is to share the experience with the member Associations..
Apex India: Apex India briefed all on their national activities, regular service projects, medical camps, chess tournament, international relationships, Round Table relationship, educational donations and social meetings.
Action Point : Apex India to coordinate with the North India Apex Clubs to bring them to one fold to organise as one Apex India. Apex India to plan on their 50th Anniversary for the year 2012 and report back to member Associations of Apex Global countries on the promotion and happenings with the anniversary..
Apex Singapore: Apex Singapore informed the Apex Global members to setup a Facebook page to recruit new members to Apex Association’s within the Asia/Pacific Region. Apex Singapore was tasked to set-up an Apex Global Facebook page and Apex Singapore was to task members to work with the Global Chairman and Secretary to see this project through.
Action Point : Apex Singapore to share their experience on the Apex Facebook and to set-up the Apex Global Facebook page. Help to promote Apex Tours within the region.
Apex Philippines: Apex Philippines brief all on their activities etc. eye clinic, bursary, food and shelter for typhoon flood victims, environment clean-up and working together with other service organisation such as Rotary and Kiwanis. NP Boyet explained that Apex Phillipines are planning to revive 4 more Clubs.
Willy Oates (Apex Australia) enquired with regards to their rural project and setting up of their National Disaster Relief bank account. He also enquired how the money was kept and disturbed to the bursary students from the Apex Phillipines National Bursary Fund.
Action Point : Apex Philippines to activate the disaster relief bank account and to reactivate other dormant Apex clubs within their Association.
Apex Bangladesh : Apex Bangladesh has briefed on their activities and Global Chairman requested to work on the Apex Global Mosquito ReductionEradication Programme and how to mobilize this programme within Apex Bangladesh from an initial trial perspective and then onto other Apex Associations. The Global Chairman asked that PNP Rezwan Shahidi be endorsed as the Apex Global Mosquito Reduction Coordinator, so the project could be advanced a lot more quickly than it is currently travelling from a roll-out perspective. The endorsement was proposed by Australia, seconded by Malaysia. The motion was carried. and it was carried.
The Apex Global Mosquito Reduction Programme was formally endorsed as Apex Global’s international service project. The motions were moved by Apex Bangladesh, seconded by Apex Phillipines. This motion was carried unanimously.
Action Point : Global Chairman with the assistance of David Piggott to design the mosquito and insect trap for the Mosquito ReductionEradication Programme. Apexian Rezwan Shahidi, the Coordinator for this programme to coordinate with the members of Apex Global on the expansion of this programme and regional roll-out..
13.0 Motions from Associations
Apex Australia through their NIRO Willy moved a motion for The Beds for Boys project in Malaysia.. This motion was unanimously accepted by all Apex Global members and to each nation was encouraged to muster support for the initiative locally within their individual Associations. This initiative will be coordinated by Apex Global.
Action Point : Individuals Associations to identify the projects similar to the Beds for the Boys in Malaysia.
14,0 General Business
Mosquito ReductionEradication Programme: The Chairman requested every funding opportunity to be explored by all nations so the Apex Global Mosquito Reduction Programme can be implemented effectively by members of Apex Global.
Mass Tours: Apex Queensland Mass Tour 2010 and India Mass Tour 2012 were discussed. More information will be provided via the Apex Global Trotter Newsletter
ASPAC:
Views were sought about the benefits and roles of ASPAC v Apex Global. Members were asked for input on the continuation of ASPAC now that meetings have resorted to only membership representation by Apex nations. Apex Global countries were called upon by the Chairman to put the international interests for Apex and the communities each country served first and think about what is best for the international Apex movement.
A decision needed to be made at the pending ASPAC AGM about the future of the ASPAC Region once the Apex Global Annual General Meeting had concluded.
The Global Chairman asked for the last round of general business and matters to be discuss. Only Apex Australia responded with a vote of thanks to the Chairman and Secretary, but was still saddened by the poor response to the meeting.
The Apex Global Mid Term Meeting was closed at 3:00 pm
Later during the Apex Malaysia National Convention the Apex Global Chairman revealed that he had chosen Apexian C.S. Naidu as the inaugural Apex Global Chairman’s Participation Award Winner. The Chairman outlined Apexian Naidu’s achievements that saw him collect this coveted award. The award presentation took place at 11AM on Sunday August 9th 2009. The Apex Global Chairman warmly congratulated Apexian Naidu on his success.
