Title: Activity Instructor

Responsible to: General Manager/Senior Instructor

Wage: NMW (to start – with annual increments)

General information: Full time, part time and casual work contracts available. Limited hours available outside of summer months. Assisting other departments such as catering and hospitality may be required from time to time. Full in-house training will be provided.

All successful applicants will require the completion of an enhanced DBS check at the candidates expense.

Requirements

  • You must be eligible to work in the UK
  • You must be aged 18 or over
  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable
  • Previous experience in a leisure, sporting or educational environment is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are essential
  • A professional, mature attitude is essential
  • First aid, coaching and/or instructing qualifications are an advantage
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable

Carreg Adventure

Carreg Adventure is a new business in the heart of Gower that offers residential adventure courses for schools and groups, non-residential corporate team-building days, English-as-a-foreign language courses in July and August and weddings on the weekends.

Carreg Adventure is based in Stouthall, a Georgian Country Mansion previously utilised as a field studies centre. After an extensive renovation it will reopen to guests from around the world in March 2015.

Duties

The duties of an Activity Instructor will include (but are not limited to):

  • Delivery of a wide variety of Outdoor Activities in line with Carreg Adventure Operating Policies & Procedures
  • Plan, set-up and deliver quality, enjoyable evening entertainment sessions
  • Management & maintenance of activity equipment & the general site

Other duties

  • Maintain high levels of safety as outlined in the relevant policies and continually monitor safety standards. Report any suggestions or concerns to the General Manager / Senior Instructor promptly.
  • Contribute to an enjoyable atmosphere on centre, making efforts to include all guests and encourage guest participation.
  • Assist other departments from time to time

Pastoral duties

  • Supervise students during meal times and “free” time
  • Assist in settling students down at ‘lights out’
