From Our Pastor
My dear friends in Christ,
This past Thursday we celebrated the funeral Mass of Catherine M. Wildman who died Sunday Feb. 7th on her 91st birthday. Her funeral Mass was truly a celebration of a life well-lived in God’s presence. Catherine lead by example always keeping the Mass at the center of her life. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed. We pray that Catherine is now at peace in God’s kingdom. Amen.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Hospitality Committee for hosting the wonderful reception for Bishop Thompson’s listening session that was held this past Monday in our parish Center. The Bishop was most appreciative for all of the work and the good food provided by the committee. The finger foods and cookies were very delicious. We had a nice turn out on such a cold and snowy evening for which I am most grateful.
Lent is off to a good start with such an excellence attendance at our Ash Wednesday Masses. Lent is an old English word that means springtime. As we go about getting our household ready for brighter days, we are reminded to use these days to grow closer to our Lord. Traditionally, Lent has been a time for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. An opportunity during the season of Lent is the Rice Bowl provided by the Catholic Relief Services. This year, operation Rice Bowl is entitled “for Lent-for life”. Through our prayers, fasting, and Lenten gifts, may we learn to live as one human family. May we listen to one another and hear the merciful words of the Lord Jesus. Amen.
Remember to take a Rice Bowl home for your family to use during this season of Lent.

The Youth Prayer Group will continue to be right after school on Monday at 3:30. Report to the center for drinks and snacks! Any student is welcome and encouraged to come!
The Youth Group will be hosting our euchre tourney on Thursday, March 3rd at 6:00 PM. Anyone who would like to come and participate can do so. Please try and come in pairs so that we have an even number. If you cannot find someone, still feel free to come and we can pair you up with someone. We will take free will donations for our Youth Group! We will need student volunteers to help serve drinks, and food.
We are planning to start Bingo in the month of March. Look next week in the bulletin to see the date we plan on heading to Ketcham Memorial Center.

If you are interested in attending a Cursillo Retreat weekend at Sarto Retreat House in Evansville please call Paula Ringwald at the church office. Retreats are held in the spring and in the fall and begin on Thursday evening and end Sunday afternoon. It’s a great chance to spend some time with God!
