January 15, 2013

Dear Friend;

The Prince William County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is pleased to announce that our annual Freedom Fund Banquet will be held March 30, 2013; 7:00 PM; Quantico Marine Base Officer’s Club; Quantico, Virginia. This year’s event will be a Jubilee Ball, in honor of the 150thAnniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. The day a slave was freed was called his “Day of Jubilee,” the day he reclaimed himself. The Emancipation Proclamation ultimately brought a “Day of Jubilee”to over four million African American slaves. The Jubilee Ball will be a celebration of four million days of Jubilee. The Ball will also honor the memory of abolitionists, black and white, who tirelessly agitated to end slavery, and the soldiers and sailors of the Union Army and Navy who fought in the Civil War.

The 2013 souvenir program book will feature a special section: Heroes of the War to End Slavery.We invite you to honor your slave, free black, abolitionist, and Union Civil War ancestors by placing a memorial to them in this special section.As always the program book will alsohave a section for patrons and advertisements.

Please consider attending the Jubilee Ball, placing a regular ad, and becoming a sponsor of the Ball. Your sponsorship will be acknowledged in our souvenir book and be seen by the more than two hundred guests who will attend our event. The NAACP will further advertise your business by prominently placing the names of all corporate and advertising sponsors on our website. As you well know funds raised by the Freedom Fund Banquet are important revenue sources for national, state, and local branches. This revenue allows the NAACP to continue its most important work to end discrimination in our nation. Do not miss this opportunity to help. Please complete the attached form and return it to Prince William County Branch NAACP not later than March 15, 2013.

Sincerely,

Norma Fields
