The State Forestry “Smilian village” is situated in the south part of South Central Bulgaria, in the area of the Regional Forestry Directorate “Smolian”. All Regional State Forestry Directorates are dependent on the National Forestry Administration in Bulgaria.
The State Forestry “Smilian village” is situated in the area of two municipalities: Municipality Smolian and Municipality Rudozem. Its area is about 30 000 hectares. It is divided into four forestry enterprise parts – Rudozem, Smilian, Elhovec, Mogilica. Most species of trees: Pinus sylvestris and Fagus sylvatica. =====Picea abies, Pinus nigra, Abies alba, Pseudotsuga menziesii and other too.
The Regional Forestry Directorate “Smolian” – Smolian Town manage over 14 forestries and one The State Forest „Izvora” – Devin. In the area of the State Forestry “Smilian” - Smilian village are located two forest nursery. First one is located in Smilian village and second one – in Barchevo village. The basic species of trees used for the forestation are: Pinus sylvestris and Picea abies. Also, in the outskirts fructiferous spices are used.
The innovations, which have been initiated by State Forestry “Smilian village”, are:
- new personal computers and new accounting software;
- new methods for management of the administrative documentation;
- new plans for coordination of the work on the forest enterprise part.
Big problem today is the limited finance resources, witch has the above stated State Forestry. Because of the lack of funds the afforest area every year becomes smaller.
Increasing finances of the State Forestry “Smilian village” will open possibilities new technologies and machines to be introduced in the forest enterprise process.
At the moment to increase effectiveness of the work in the State Forestry “Smilian village”, it is necessary to improve its finance status and more competent experst in the sphere of the forest enterprise to be engaged.
The future possibilities for the State Forestry “Smilian village” will be better by improvement of the work conditions.
