Emigration: John and Mary Ann arrived in New Zealand on the Indian Queen; 1050 tons, Captain D.F. Jobson, sailed from Liverpool on the 1st November, 1856, then London on the 5th November, 1856, arrived Auckland on the 30th January, 1857 and Wellington on the 2nd February, 1857 with 451 passengers. John and Mary had six children with them and paid their own passage. John and Mary's fare was twenty pounds each, two of the children cost ten pounds each, and the remaining four cost six pounds thirteen shillings and fourpence each. The fares were paid through an agent named Hervey Smith & Co.
