Visitor and Field Trip Card Information and Template

On these cards, you will need to include your name, and curriculum area, coded in the color that you wish. (I would print this out on a green sheet of paper, as I have decided that green is the color that I am using for Field trip and Visitor cards)

Include the title of the activity, materials needed if any, and the procedure as in the previous cards. Also include questions to ask the Visitor or Field Trip person, and preparation and follow up activities to help the children get the most from this activity. Suggest a song or book or activity to enhance and follow through on the learning that can be derived from this activity.

For Example: (I would print this out on a green sheet of paper, as I have decided that green is the color that I am using for Field trip and Visitor cards)

Title of Activity: Grocery Store Field Trip
Curriculum Area: Field Trip #1
Preparation Needed: get signed parental permission, arrange for an additional adult to accompany, camera with charged batteries, arrange with the Grocery Store for the visit and if there are any costs of the trip, if so collect money. Visit with the staff to see exactly what we will be doing at the Grocery Store, the length of visit, exact time of visit, and all the other details. At the Center in advance of the trip, set out the grocery store items in dramatic play, read a book about a grocery story such as Grocery Store (Field Trip!) (Paperback) by Angela Leeper which is available through Amazon.com or from the local library.
Procedure: on the day of the field trip, enjoy the trip with the children asking questions, observing the children in the different areas, take lots of photos to use later
Follow Up: Keep the grocery store up in the dramatic play area, add items that the children were particularly interested into. Develop pictures and using some of the photos make a thank you note to send to the grocery store, and the remaining pictures, make a book about the trip to the grocery store. and if you still have remaining photos, attach them to a poster board or bulletin board, so the children can view them while waiting to use the bathroom or entering the classroom.
Guidance Suggestions: (limits of number of children or area in classroom)
Be sure to have additional adult assistance so your trip will be safe, relax and enjoy the trip!
