PART 1 GENERAL

1.1   SECTION INCLUDES

1.2   RELATED SECTIONS

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete any sections below not relevant to this project; add others as required.

A.   Section 05500 - Metal Fabrications: Secondary structural steel to support system attachment to building.

1.3   SUBMITTALS

A.   Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

B.   Product Data: Submit manufacturer's product information, specifications and installation instructions for building components and accessories, including:

1.   Preparation instructions and recommendations.

2.   Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

3.   Installation methods.

C.   Shop Drawings: Submit complete shop drawings including all necessary plan dimensions, elevations and details. Contractor shall verify all dimensions and provide elevations at each column, finish floor, and related soffit before releasing to shop drawings for fabrication.

D.   Delegated-Design Submittal: Submit design calculations signed by a Registered Professional Engineer. Design calculations shall state that the system design complies with the wind requirements of ANSI/ASCE 7-88, the stability criteria of applicable building code, and other governing criteria.

1.   For system engineering of components and system engineering of attachment to structure to resist environmental loads.

E.   Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.

F.   Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square representing actual product, color, and patterns.

1.4   QUALITY ASSURANCE

A.   Manufacturer's Qualifications: Products shall be wholly produced by a recognized manufacturer with at least 10 years' experience in the design and fabrication of specified systems.

1.   Systems shall be mechanically fastened - welding is not acceptable.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.

B.   Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.

1.   Provide system in areas designated by Architect.

2.   Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship is approved by Architect.

3.   Rework mock-up as required to produce acceptable work.

1.5   PRE-INSTALLATION MEETINGS

A.   Convene minimum two weeks prior to starting work of this section.

1.6   DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A.   Deliver and store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging bearing the brand name and manufacturer's identification until ready for installation.

B.   Handling: Handle materials to avoid damage.

1.7   PROJECT CONDITIONS

A.   Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.8   SEQUENCING

A.   Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

1.9   WARRANTY

A.   Manufacturer shall warrant systems, including material and workmanship, from defects for a period of one year from substantial completion.

B.   Installer shall warrant entire scope of installation including: connections, flashing, sealing, and other items related to installation for a period of one year from substantial completion.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1   MANUFACTURERS

2.2   FLAT METAL CANOPIES

A.   Flat Metal Canopies: Sentenal Flat Metal Canopies (FMC) as manufactured by InPro Fabrication.

B.   Design:

1.   Pre-Engineered: 60psf/115mph live load/wind resistance.

2.   8 inches by 2 inches (203 mm by 51 mm) internal guttered front fascia.

3.   Rear fascia frame attached to structure with concealed "Z" clips.

4.   Sloped to drain flat panel recessed in four sided frame.

5.   1-1/2 inches (38 mm) angle brace to building structure.

C.   Materials:

1.   Components shall be extruded from aluminum alloy 6063 with a heat temper of T6 and the following profile thickness:

a.   Fascia = .125 inch (3 mm).

b.   Roof Deck = .110 inch (2.8 mm).

c.   Hanger Rod = .125 inch (3 mm).

2.   Fasteners shall be stainless steel or cadmium provided by the manufacturer.

D.   Finish:

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER **Delete finishes not required.

1.   Clear Anodized: AAMA 2605 Class I.

2.   Bronze Anodized: AAMA 2605 Class 1.

3.   Aluminum/Steel Paint: Kem-4000 acrylic alkyd enamel coating, color as selected by Architect.

4.   Aluminum/Steel Paint: Kynar 500, Hylar 5000, Siliconized Polyester; coating varies with product and color as selected by Architect.

E.   Fabrication:

1.   Protective covers shall be pre-assembled by manufacturer in-shop. Fascia, struts, corner assemblies, and roof deck shall be mechanically fastened into units ready to install.

2.   Decking shall be an extruded aluminum component with an interlocking and self-flashing design to provide structural integrity for the completed assembly.

3.   Drainage: Water shall drain from covered surfaces into an integral gutter system and out at designated locations. All drains to be fabricated in shop.

4.   Hanger Rod Construction: Extruded aluminum pipe with finish to match canopies and dimensions as specified in plans.

2.3   SUNSCREENS

A.   Sunscreens: Sentenal Sunscreens as manufactured by InPro Fabrication.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER **Delete design not required.

B.   Design: Airfoil Blades Sentenal Sunscreens as manufactured by InPro Fabrication.

C.   Design: Louver Blades Sentenal Sunscreens as manufactured by InPro Fabrication.

D.   Materials:

1.   Aluminum Components: 6063 or 6061 extruded aluminum alloy.

a.   Airfoil Blade: 6 inches (76 mm) long angled airfoil blade profile .081 inch (2.1 mm) wall thickness.

b.   Louver Blade: 6 inches (76 mm) long angled blade profile .081 inch (2.1 mm) material thickness.

c.   Fascia: 3 inches (76 mm) round fascia with .081 inch (2.1 mm) wall thickness.

d.   Outriggers: Tapered flat bar with 0.375 inch (9.5 mm) wall thickness.

e.   Mounting Brackets: 0.375 inch (9.5 mm) thick aluminum angle.

2.   All fasteners shall be stainless steel and provided by the manufacturer.

E.   Finishes:

1.   Clear Anodized: AAMA 2605 Class I.

2.   Bronze Anodized: AAMA 2605 Class 1.

3.   Aluminum Coating: Kem-4000 acrylic alkyd enamel coating, color as selected by Architect.

4.   Aluminum Coating: Kynar 500, Hylar 5000, Siliconized Polyester; coating varies with product and color as selected by Architect.

5.   All sunscreens shall be factory finished including accessories.

6.   Provide finish protection as provided by manufacturer.

F.   Fabrication:

1.   Louvers and fascia shall be mechanically fastened to outriggers with stainless steel screws. Pre-welded or factory-welded connections are not acceptable.

2.   Supports, anchorage and accessories to be included for a complete assembly.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1   EXAMINATION

A.   Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

B.   If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2   PREPARATION

A.   Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

B.   Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3   CANOPY INSTALLATION

A.   Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B.   Install protective covers in positions indicated in plans and approved shop drawings.

C.   Protective cover shall be erected true to line, level, plumb, and leak free.

D.   Extreme care shall be taken to protect finish during handling and erection.

3.4   SUNSCREEN INSTALLATION

A.   Anchor bolts and wall fasteners shall be furnished by the manufacturer.

B.   Sun control device shall be erected true to line, level and plumb.

3.5   PROTECTION

A.   Products shall be cleaned promptly after completion of installation.

B.   Protect installed products until completion of project.

C.   Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
