ARK Youth Ministry Give Back Day of Service
Join us as we raise awareness and come together to raise money for a local organization that supports and helps the homeless families in our community
This year, once again in conjunction with our Cardboard City Event we will be giving back to those in our parish community. Join us starting at 10amon Saturday June 2nd as we get in our work crews and head out for some yard work and simple projects around the homes of those in our parish in need of help! Then, head back to the Church to build your overnight dwelling for CARDBOARD CITY!
What: A Cardboard City- our goal is to gather as many youth together as possible and spend the night in a temporary dwelling; a cardboard box
When:Saturday June 2nd 3:00pm-Sunday June 3rd 8:00amOR join us at 10am to get in a work crew and head out for some yard work and simple projects around the homes of those in our parish in need of help! It’s our GIVEBACK DAY!
Why:To raise awareness of homelessness here within our local community and to raise money for Family Promise of Warren County Inc. AND to help our parish community!
Where:Parking lot of Church of the Assumption’s School and Church of the Assumptions front lawn. Hackettstown, NJ and various work sites in Hackettstown.
How:Become a resident of the city by collecting pledges and spending one night in a cardboard box as well as becoming part of a crew and working on local community homes. Invite your friends to participate as well.
Bring:Your dwelling if possible, (There will not be many boxes available at this year’s event.)Duct tape, a sleeping bag and a pillow, a quiet game like cards.
What will be provided at the event? A lunch and drinks for our work crews, a simple meal for dinner much like what would be served at a soup kitchen and a simple breakfast in the morning as well.
What if it rains?Just as the homeless do we will cope with the weather that day. If a safety risk is involved we will move the event indoors.
Security and adult chaperones will be on site at all times. Adult volunteers are needed to help in this area so please consider volunteering.
