Non-fiction Dice Game: “Do We Still Need the Post Office?”

Mission: On your own, roll the dice and answer EOG review questions that accompany the reading selection. The first one to the FINISH line wins the game!

Process: Follow these simple steps:

Each player chooses a game piece.

If your game piece has a star on the back of it, you are the leader and will lead the first round.

The leader must work to ensure that the group is working well, following the rules, and having fun!

The leader will have each player write down his/her birthday on a sticky note and will then arrange the dice rolling order accordingly. EX: January birthday rolls first, March birthday rolls second, etc.

If you need help, raise your hand, and your teacher will come to assist you.

Then, the first player will roll the dice and answer the question that corresponds with the side on which the dice lands.

As the first player reads his question aloud, another player will check the answer using the color-coded answer key. If the answer is correct, the first player will move his game piece according to the moves that match the question goal.

If the answer is incorrect, the team must work together to talk through the question and answers, deciding why the answer on the key is correct. The leader will work hard to facilitate the conversation.

Then, the second player will roll and if he lands on a question that has already been answered, he must continue to roll until the dice lands on fresh question.

The player closest to the finish line once all the questions have been answered, wins the game!
