SOFIA ALERT

A large number of counterfeit $20 FRN’s are being circulated in the Dayton area. These counterfeit notes are NOT printed on genuine currency paper but do have SIMULATED genuine features of the strip, watermark, and color shifting ink.

We are currently looking for a group of 3-4 females working in a group during the passes at most stores. Suspect #1 is described as being in her late 20’s or early 30’s. She is a black female with short hair. The other suspect (#2) is described as a heavier, white female in her late 30’s or early 40’s. The other suspects are black females with no description. The suspects move quickly from store to store during passing activity.

The counterfeit $20 FRN’s have been passed at a variety of stores with the largest known quantity being passed at the Dayton Mall and at Fairfield Commons.

All of these counterfeit notes begin with the letters “IB: and end with the letter “D”. Many of the counterfeit notes have a significant design flaw where they are missing the Federal Reserve Bank Number directly under the Serial Number on the left side of the note (see example). If a $20 FRN is missing this number, it is counterfeit. There are many variations of the serial numbers currently, but close scrutiny should be paid to any $20 FRN beginning with IB in the serial number.

These individuals are wanted for questioning by the United States Secret Service.

If you come into contact with either of these individuals or have any additional information about these individuals, please:

1.  Keep the counterfeit note in question and call 911 to request a police officer respond.

2.  Try and identify a vehicle license plate of the group as they flee.

3.  Call the U.S. Secret Service Dayton Resident Office at (937) 222-2013 and ask for any agent.

4.  Pull all video surveillance for evidence.

SUSPECT #1 SUSPECT #2

The Top $20 FRN is genuine and contains the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) indicator (F6) in Red. The bottom $20 FRN is counterfeit and contains NO FRB. Also note the Serial Numbers will always begin with “IB” and end in “D” as indicated.
