RE:Advisory Memo – Adult Abuse Act, Abuse & Neglect Investigations, Incident & Accident Reporting and Criminal Background Checks Training for Nursing Facilities

The Office of Long Term Care will conduct training on Abuse & Neglect Investigations, Incident & Accident (I&A) Reporting and Criminal Background Checks (CRC) and will provide a general overview of the Adult Abuse Act. These training sessions have been approved for three (3) CEU hours.

The training sessions will be provided in the following locations on the specified dates:

  • September 9, 2003, St. Edwards Hospital Hennessy Center, 7301 Rogers Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas. The HennessyCenter will accommodate 100 participants. Registration 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Training 10:00 – 2:00 p.m.
  • September 17, 2003, Blue Flame Room (the building formerly known as the ArklaBuilding), 400 East Capitol, Little Rock, Arkansas. The Blue Flame Room will accommodate 150 participants. Registration 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Training 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • September 24, 2003, Blue Flame Room (the building formerly known as the ArklaBuilding), 400 East Capitol, Little Rock, Arkansas. The Blue Flame Room will accommodate 150 participants. Registration 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Training 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

These training sessions are designed to:

  • Provide a general overview of the Adult Abuse Act;
  • Provide information on the State’s requirements for reporting and investigation of Abuse and Neglect of Nursing Facility;
  • Provide information on the Criminal Background Checks process.

In addition to conducting these training sessions in Fort Smith and Little Rock, we will also have this information posted on the OLTC’s Web page, which is located at:

Since we are unable to adjust the temperature in the training site in Little Rock, the Blue Flame Room, some participants may wish to bring a sweater or jacket.
