International Education Week
November 17-21, 2003

The Stone Center for Latin American Studies and the Latin American Resource Center are proud to support International Education Week at Tulane University. With the combined help of the University of New Orleans' Metro College, Tulane's Center for International Students and Scholar, the India Association of Tulane, and other student organizations, we are pleased to announce the following events:

Visit Tulane’s International Student Groups
Monday, November 17, 11AM- 2PM, Tulane University
Stop by the Pederson Lounge in the University Center for the information booths set-up by International Student Organizations. They will have displays, recipes, and more fun information about their country.

International Opportunities Fair
November 17-19 (Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday), 10AM -2PM
Library Patio, University of New Orleans
Information will be available on UNO study abroad and exchange programs, the Critical Languages Program, international careers, funding information for study abroad, and more. Take a quiz and win a prize! Get your name written in an exotic alphabet!

Movie Night - Whale Rider (New Zealand, 2003)

Capoeira Performance and Lecture
Tuesday, November 18, 7PM, Dixon Recital Hall, Tulane University
Local Capoeira expert, Curtis Pierre, will give a lecture and slide show on the history of Capoeira Angola, followed by a performance of this Brazilian martial art/dance. This event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by the University of New Orleans and the Stone Center for Latin American Studies.

Movie Night - Harder They Come (Jamaica, 1972)
Thursday, November 20, 7 PM, 102 Jones Hall, Tulane University
The Latin American Resource Center will present one of the greatest reggae movies ever produced, the Harder they Come. This film, starring Jimmy Cliff, tells the tale of a raising reggae singer and his fate at the hands of greedy record producers. This event will feature an opening discussion of reggae’s influence in the U.S.

Henna in the Park

  • Invite a guest chef to cook at your school or have students cook foods from around the world.
