CITY –WIDE TAXI METER RATES FOR 2012-2013.

In the year Two Thousand Twelve………………………………………………………………………
Resolved by the City Council of the City of Burlington, as follows:
ThatWHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Burlington, Sec. 48XXVII and the Code of Ordinances Chapter 30 authorize the City Council to regulate and license the owners and drivers of taxicabs and motor vehicles for hire; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to §30-48(a) of the Vehicle for Hire Ordinance as of July 1, 2012 and extended to September 30, 2012, taxicab fares shall be determined by taximeter; and
WHEREAS, the Taxi Licensing Board and Airport Commission pursuant to §§30-48(a) and (c) have worked diligently to establish taximeter rates for the City and Airport that will be fair to both taxi drivers and consumers and that will provide consistency in rates across the City; and
WHEREAS, after a multitude of meetings including members of the taxi industry, Cenrtrodyne (meter vendor) and two public hearings, the Board and Airport Commissionhave reached a conclusion on a rate that is robust for future growth and does not overburden consumers while ensuring the taxi industry reasonable revenues; and
WHEREAS, the Board and Airport Commission propose the following taxicab meter rates:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby approves taxicab meter rates as set out above for the City of Burlington and BurlingtonInternationalAirport for the 2012-2013 taxi licensing year.
